a few more..
Totally creepy painting.. They think this is Annie Palmer.. (all pictures of her were burned when she was murdered by her slave lover).. Wherever you move the eyes and head follow you! Yikes!

Annie's bed.. (supposedly you can see images in the headboard) she murdered three husbands in this house along with numerous lovers... Then she was murdered herself at the age of 29..

Tunnel to the lower level that used to have a torture chamber/dungeon. Now there is a pub.... LOL!

Re: Rose Hall Great House
It's a nice tour & interesting if you haven't done it before. I've been probably 3 times, last time a bit disappointing, mainly because the entry price had pretty much doubled. If it had been my first tour, it probably wouldn't have bothered me but still, $25? My thought was it's awfully steep for what you get. That opinion hasn't changed.
School children are often there on tours w/ their classmates. Reading the book - The White Witch of Rose Hall - before or after will help one appreciate the history. Me... I love history & historical architecture so I'm drawn to such places. Personally, I now prefer the Greenwood Great House which is relatively nearby. It houses the largest collection of antiques in one place in Jamaica. It's little known so not crowded but a great experience, nonetheless. Amazing view, peaceful, great history, reasonable entrance fee (probably half of Rose Hall)... ties to Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

We did this tour in November. It was incredible to think that such architechture was handmade....beautiful. Got some really awesome pictures that we've blown up and framed. And I bought The White Witch book in the gift shop. Was an interesting read, especially after being there.
Re: Rose Hall Great House
The fact that your husband is wearing a kilt in one of those pictures Jamerican1 is just too awesome! That's a great idea! :)
Re: Rose Hall Great House
Is your Husband rockin the kilt?
Re: Rose Hall Great House
What did the Jamaicans think of the KILT? Cool pictures by the way.
Re: Rose Hall Great House
LOL! He sure is! He wears a kilt almost everywhere we go.. :D
For the most part the Jamaicans think its cool, some of them have said he is wearing a dress, LOL! It does draw some attention, that's for sure!
Funny story, a few years ago we were walking around in Ocho Rios and one of the hair braiding ladies comes running after us on the street and was asking questions about the kilt, "what's under the kilt", Husband responds with "My sandals", the lady then takes the bottom of his kilt and lifts it straight up! OMG! then yells, "He's airing out his seeds Mon" I thougt I was going to die from laughing so hard!!
When we went to the Twisted Kilt in Montego Bay, they took some pictures of him since I guess he is the first and only person to have actually worn a kilt there!
Re: Rose Hall Great House
