It really depends on what you are planning on doing as to how many clothes you bring. I always find I bring too much and I am going to limit what I take this year. The money thing is true though its best to have more than you need in case the ATM's aren't working or whatever else can happen in Jamaica.
We hand wash clothes as needed and occasionally have housekeeping do a load or two for us.
Wash them in the sink or tub then hang them to dry...or ask whomever cleans your room.
yep... 1/2 the clothes and twice the money!
I've found that if I at least bring enough underwear for each day I'm good with re-wearing clothes two-three times since most of the day(s) I am in a swimsuit and only wear real clothes for a few hours in the evening.. ;)
I always bring a small bottle of woolite so I can wash swim suits out and hand wash any clothes that may have gotten dirty/stained.
During my early trips I used to bring a crazy amount of stuff... I could have changed outfits at least 3 times a day and still not worn everything I brought! Now I try to bring as little as possible! More room for Rum Cream coming back!!
I see.. Iam already a lite packer.. So this will be easy.. But taking twice the money is not possible.. Iam already taking everything I can.. Thanks to Uncle Sam it's a decent amount for 2 weeks.. Give thanks for all your replys
"What swim suit should I wear today?" LOL LOL
^^^LOL~True~541 where are you staying at and your dates?~Bless!
Get up in the morning, put on your swimsuit.
Rinse and Repeat :D
We have washed out clothes in the shower and reworn them and have also had housekeeping do a load or two for us.
I always come home with the majority of the clothes that i brought down with me not even worn.
I vow to take only 1/2 the clothes this time!
As for the twice the money ......... I'm with you, no can do! We have a budget and have to stick with it.
My latest list is one dark suit and no other clothes except for what I'm wearing.
Just the money in my pocket
We have adjusted our plans a few times, but I think this last plan is a keeper.. 4 days in negril, 4 at shades cottages in Belmont and 6 in Portland area, and then to Montego Bay the night before we head home :( Portland just has that natural beauty that my lady and I fell in love with.. There is just too much to see and do on the island..
for a tip, the housekeeper will do it...a couple pair of swim trunks, several t shirts, underwear for every day....and we wear some little extra things on the plane and take some of it off when we get in the cab,...plus you can buy souviener shirts there and wear them...we are also budget people....have to do without some things at home to be able to go,and we dont eat out much at home...we would rather blow our money in negril rather than blowing it at home....we don't do w/o anything we need, and dont really miss the cut backs....(give me a crack at the federal budget, lol) Our bday, valentines, christmas, etc, gifts are just money to the negril fund...works for us...
I'm with you Groove. We do the same.
Bring along a travel size bottle of Febreeze ~~ perfect for "freshening" up your clothes.
Same here Groove, we don't buy gifts for each other for any special occasions.
When we have a trip in the works I pick up extra hours at my part-time job to fund anything extra that we might plan on doing when down there.
We don't eat out often, go to movies, or anything outside of what is necessary so that we can save every penny for our vacations.
It's what we live for and any sacrifice is worth it :)
I have gone with just a carry on a couple times. Saves a lot of time! Usually spend over half the day in my swimsuit, so I can pack light, plus I'm not big on shoes. Can get buy with just a couple pairs of flip flops and pack lots of sundresses and swimsuits, which don't take up a lot of room. Then buy detergent to hand wash clothes with when I get there.
My wife and I are the same we no longer exchange gifts all of our money goes towards our time in Jamaica.
Wow ... I thought I was the only girl not interested in shoes!!! Couple pair of flip flops only for me as well!!! I'm not wearing anything I have to take off to walk :) I can pack all my clothes in my carry on, and I hate shopping so I don't even have enough clothes for the 10 days we are staying! You'll be seeing me in the same stuff ... I hope no fashion police are present! ;)
Groove16, we do the same with not eating out much, and Saving the money we would spend on holidays and the like. For the 5th year in a row it has allowed us to go to what we call our second home!
Employ a Jamaican! Housekeepers can often do personal laundry where you are staying for a reasonable fee, or bring it home. They do a fantastic job BUT one caveat: either do fine fabrics yourself or give careful laundering instructions. Better yet, leave the fine fabrics at home and RELAX in your comfy clothes. IRIE! *IG
No problem at firefly lol.
Bring lawyers/guns & money....
I'm with you Steph. I hate to shop. It affords us two trips a year to Negril.
Well... You can save on clothing by going to one of the nudie beaches...no need for too much in the way of day wear, I guess.
Half the clothes and three times the money lol.
I don't know how I did it, but we returned Saturday and I had half my money left! However, I was down to my last pair of shorts and had 2 clean shirts and 2 clean pair of underwear left.
My last trip to Negril we had a credit card with like $1,000 on it so if it got robbed or lost we dont get hurt too much...Leaving at MoBay airport we ate at the Margaritaville place, upstairs (kinda cool for people watching)...We pay for the food and get on the plane to go home....We look up the card on the computer and there is only $60 bucks left ?????????? Whew??? (no we dont take phones or computers on vaca)
