Up to an hour and 20 minutes. I'd run if I were you.
You might want to look into purchasing the VIP arrival service provided by clubmobay.com so you can zip thru the lines.
Yeah, I'm thinking about that for sure.
Although I have never experienced it before, this February 12 we arrived at 2:30 pm along with three other planes. When we approached the "room", the line was backed up beyond the entire room (around the corner) and was about 6 people wide. We took about an 1.5 hours to clear customs. The Moscow visitors were butting in and jumping lines. They (although not all) generally had no consideration for others whatsoever. I watched the circus and smiled. NO sense in getting upset as it was beyond my control.
The couple we met arrived on a different flight at the same time. They took the alternate line, hoping to expedite things and took almost 3 hours to clear. It was absolutely insane. We were sharing a taxi, so it was frustrating for all involved, including our driver Kingsley, who BTW was awesome.
Under those circumstances the extra fee to jump the queue would be well worth it.
how much does that cost
It is well worth the $$. When we arrived the lines were
well out of customs up the ramp and around the corner. We used VIP
and we're through and in their arrival lounge w a cold towel and cold beer within 10 minutes
Waiting for our luggage was the longest part of the 10 min
Had a cold red stripe in lounge while escort found our driver
Totally awesome. I bought the return okg for $80
We have club mobay booked for Saturday. We only booked it for arrival not departure. $110 for my wife and I total. Could book both ways for 50 more I believe
Does anyone know how departure works? Where do you meet the representative and are you fast tracked to check in a bag with your airline?
i dont have problem with leaving and waiting but arriving is another story but i dont know, does anyone else think its going to be busy at 9am?
You check in at a desk after you've gone through the line at the airlines and checked your luggage in. They will then take you through the fast track line. Our experience was that it saved no time at all, but we enjoyed the lounge.
The arrival service saved us well over an hour.
After 4 trips this winter which I just got back from the last. The longest I have waited on arrival is 15 minutes? Maybe I have just been lucky?
We just purchased it. We arrive Easter weekend and it is always packed with famalies and we wait hours.
Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much for letting us know about this, it gives us a couple extra hours in the sun. :)
Thank you
Knock on wood ........ but I can't say we have ever had to wait very long at all upon arrival. We have come at different times of the year but our flight always arrives around 1:15 in the afternoon.
I move pretty quick once I'm off that plane though :p
Last reach arrived at 1pm on wednesday, and only had about 15 min wait. Have arrived about that
time on saturdays and thats a whole different story.
What to do What to do??? Arriving at 2pm on Thursday and I sure do hate waiting in line for customs... I justt called and the sai $80 per person for arrival only. I also emailed though... I guess I will see if that is the correct price when they email me back . Anyone else arrive on Thursday afternoon? Advice?
The arrival service is $55, I just purchased it for a Saturday. Check out flightstats.com to see how many flights are coming in around the same time. There are about 5 coming in within a half an hour of ours so I figured we'd try the arrival service. Just noticed that you're leaving Thursday, not sure if flightstats will work for you.
I arrived on Wed Mar 13 at 2:30 pm with 3 other flights and I think it took us all of 30 min to get through customs ... I had been thinking about paying for the arrival service and was very glad I didn't .. it would have been a waste of money. I find the airport is much busier in Feb than in March
Do you have to be booked w/the hotel for that? Does that include your ride? A person could get a red plate once in Negril. We arrived with 7 other planes within a hour and it TOTALLY overwhelmed the airport. 3+ hours. Everything went smooth and irie. But I would pay extra. Extra money to be in paradise...No problem mon.
limeex2, no you do not have to book it through your hotel, although some vacation packages offer it as an option, and no it does not include your ride. If the airport is busy it is well worth it imho. Especially the departure lounge, worth getting to the airport early for.
Trip #50 ? or ??? and have mostly travelled outside of the weekend. My most recent trip two weeks ago during a peak time and on a Saturday rendered a huge crowd and line up continued up the ramp but we were through in 35 minutes. Departure was about 10 minutes and whomever said there was no immigration check on the way out back home was incorrect or the "daily prize winner", showed my passport to the desks as usual and proceeded to the security checkpoint/scanner.
I agree with Captaind... take it in. Slow down. Ease up. We have had no lines, we have been in line. Regardless of the wait - it's always worth it.
