2 happened today, and it was two guys from the kitchen. So sad as they were both great young men. RIP
Curious who they mention as the shareholder.
I'm here right now. It was and still is a very sad day.
So awful to hear this. Prayers to all loved ones...
Oh my. I was hoping the story wasn't accurate. RIP
How sad. Keeping their families and the Catcha' family in my thoughts and prayers.
Wow.:( May they all rest in peace
Very sad.... RIP
I read this story online earlier today and was truly saddened. My deepest heartfelt sympathies are sent to Catcha and Catcha Gardens for their losses....and to the families and loved ones of those involved. Indeed a very sad day for us all.
So sad. They are in my prayers.
Sad to hear :(
I am shocked as I had some guests were going there for dinner and my staff told me catcha was closed due to the drowning s. I pray for the families .
This is such sad news. My prayers and thoughts go to the victims and families.
Damion was one of the nicest guys I have met!
Such a sad tragedy
This has truly made my heart very heavy. I could not sleep last night just thinking about it :(
What a sad loss and tragedy.
My prayers are with those boys' family and friends.
Catcha has suffered a great loss.
So sad! That's another reason I prefer to stay on the beach. The sea can be very unforgiven on the west end at times!
Terrible news :-(
My deepest sympathy to the families of the two young men,
and to the staff at Catcha Falling Star...
Things like this make me stop and think about how precious (and short sometimes) life can be....
Prayers for their families and all the Catcha staff and management.
A sad time in Negril.
Sad....I have swam there and little inlet there where the ladder is a pretty hazardous. You can't hit the rocks because they are loaded with urchins so I see these guys hitting the rocks trying to get out and maybe one tried to save the other and they both went down.
Sad....How can you not think of them the next time you go there?
My heart is very sad for the Catcha family and the families & friends of these good men. Wish I was there to hug everyone.
Me too, Steph :(
they were trying to remove Pipe Ladder from the cliff to keep high sea from breaking it up, large wave swept one off and the other jumped in to help and was lost also.............Sad...blessing and strength to all who were close
One of the Young Men fell into the Sea and the other jumped in to save him, they were both drowned.
This was just reported by Jamaica Tamboo.
Yes this is true.
There were actually 3 men working on bringing up the ladder, a large wave swept two of them out into the ocean, one of which was Triston.
Damion jumped in to help him and they both went under
Another staff member jumped in to help the other man who went in, they were able to make there way back up at Banana Shout but were pretty banged up and scratched.
It was a very tragic day for everyone there
Keeping them all in my thoughts and prayers.
That staff is very much a family
Please keep them in your thoughts and send love
So sad, better a ladder than 2 young men. Respect and condolences to their families and friends.
my heart breaks thinking about this tragedy
and as for the ladder "discussions" - I bet these men were doing a duty that they have performed many many times before - safely
I was a strong swimmer, scuba diver, and loved the water.....two times in my life (65) I almost drowned, one being at a place called Heartbeat, just on the start of the cliffs, in Negril........
I slipped off of a slick concrete step, and banging off the urchin covered cliffs, into the sea, waves were 2-3 ft...
not much but enough to tire myself out trying to get back up to the ladder, which didnt reach entirely into the water...(see blog link below for entire story)...
at one point it hit me...."I gonna maybe be dead soon......Crap ! I gotta get outa this"
I did
BUT! please beware of the Sea off of the Cliffs at West End......its very pretty and alluring....but it hides a "stinger"
I think the best thing to do when you get caught in the rough swells on the cliffs, is swim down underwater and out away from the rock...... You can float in the water for sometime without much effort until you get an opening to make your way out...... You can't fight it and you can't beat it.....
Its an easy situation to panic in....
but when you are floating, mind the current which can carry you farther from shore....and agree, Keep a Kool Head
So sad that 2 lives were lost over a ladder that could be replaced... Their lives cannot! Shame on mgmt for putting their employees in such a bad situation.
prayers go out to all involved! so sad to hear.
Marly,
I will hug them up for you when I get there tomorrow for you.
Thanks yamon!
They need all the love, hugs and support we can give them!
