Welcome,
Just hang around this board and you'll have friends and more things to do than you can imagine.
Hook Up with a good cab driver. I use Dandy McFarlane from Catcha or one of the drivers that hang out at LTU PUB. They have a good idea about what's going on, who is going where, and can include you in on a trip or two that they have scheduled. Tip generously and you will get the best treatment.
go on a pub crawl with Lenbert. its a blast
Anything you want will find you.
get on a roll call so you can see which boardies are going to be there when you are, watch out for sand gravity it can change all your plans
Greetings from Negril! Welcome to the Board!
You really cant find a better group of folks to answer questions and make suggestions about Negril and Jamaica than right here! They have so much to offer!
Be sure to try an stop by a live webcast or two - we are having one right now from Seastar Inn on the West End - the full webcast schedule is on RealNegril.com!
You can find out about places to visit in our Things To Do section, and our Transportation section has a great selection of tour operators and airport transfer drivers - feel free to check out all the sections of Negril.com!
See you soon man!
Russ, when are you going ?
Russ, are you planning on going all inclusive or just a room? What part of the year are you planning on going? With a little background you will receive info to pretty much customize your trip, and its free.
You made a wise choice for your 1st trip, and going solo at that....tells me you will have a blast
My lady and I are taking our first trip out of the us in June !! Great minds think alike
Thanks for all the responses. I will be there April 15th thru April 21st. I am staying at Firefly. Don't know how that will work for me but I liked the location. I believe middle of the beach. I did not want to do the all inclusive. I am more of a meet the people kind of guy.
What is a roll call?
Follow the yellow brick road and this board too.By the time youre done you will ready to fly from the nest.Great pick for your 1st journey.Pay attention, take notes and you will be a weary traveller by the time you get home my friend.
Roll Call is for the attendence count. You are in April Roll Call....Go shout out. There you will see who is there on your dates of vaca. You will maybe hang out, they are more experienced than you so they will advise you.
Hi Russ, welcome to the board.
I'll be staying at the Coco La Palm (just left of your hotel as you face the water) Drop by and chat, I can point you towards what ever your looking for. You can meet a tone of people at the Broadcasts.
See you there.
Good Morning Russ! and welcome to Negril.com. As too what to do...depends on how busy you want to be and how big of a budget you have. Remember the best part of Negril is just parking yourself on the beach and/or walking the beach. Sitting and watching the world go by is a fulltime job in Negril. If you're interested in some adventure, then find yourself a taxi driver that is good to you and someone you can trust. Remember it has to be a red plate taxi. These are drivers that are licenced to carry tourists.
There are so many places to go and so much to see but because you’re only there for a week, I wouldn’t recommend doing to too much. A Black River/ YS falls day trip would be nice. If you want to hang around locally, then an afternoon trip to the Red Dragon, Rick’s CafĂ©, and a wonder down the beach to Margaritaville would also be a good idea.
There should be many return guests at the Firefly so go to the bar and ask around about what to do. Sunbeach bar is right next door to the Firefly and they have a gathering of long time Negril visitors. Some have been going there for many years. Seek out Dennis at Sunbeach and he’ll point out some people to talk to.
hay russ,, danap here ,, i will be hanging around firefly that time also, keep a look out for a short guy with a long beard,, ,,,,,,,,,
Hi Russ...Firefly is a favorite of mine...Maxine who works the bar/kitchen is very nice, she will gladly answer any questions while she is making you an excellent meal. Tell her Angela says maxine is the best! She will know who I am....I visit her daily when I'm there.
You can also head right next door to Sunbeach..its a good bar, food is alright and live reggae on thurs and sun nights.
If you go the other way, captain ziggy has jetskis, littlesailboats, and kyaks for rental....just past that is Wild Parrot...great little beach bar with EXCELLENT food...I have stayed there many times now...it's my home in Negril.
Take a beach walk in each dirEction the first couPle of days to see what's up past the area you are in. I have to admit...I never ventured past Sunbeach, Firefly, Ziggy's and Wild Parrot at Christmas....I was very happy to just chill there...have a wonderful time!!
Welcome to da Board!
well you won't be solo long if you don't want to be.......ha ha
you gonna have a blast mi friend.......and then some
Cool Runnings, Marko
I will be looking for you my friend. I will by the 1st round.
marco has a list of happy hours, places to eat, etc that we found very helpful our first trip...maybe he will post it for you...
My husband and I will be in JA for the first time April 16th - 24th. We'll be up on the Cliffs at The Caves, but I am sure we will be venturing to the beach a ton during our stay. We are also first-time travelers with shiny new passports to let us out of the USA, lol.
Everyone here has us very excited for our trip. Maybe we'll see you while we're there! Have fun!
