A great second trip
PV was a good fit for us! I will post more but just don't have the time now to do so.
Found and got to say hey to Rasta Dave again this year and here is a picture of Dave and Beth. Dave said it has been really slow so if anyone is up that way stop in and buy a beer and say hello at Donaldson's Inn.

Re: A great second trip
so Rasta Dave works at Donaldsons now?
-
Re: A great second trip
gerryg123, He said either Donaldson's or the place next door and I didn't catch the name of that place. There was another Rasta guy walking from Rutland Point end that took me to Dave when I asked. He said Dave was his neighbor and would not even take a free drink for taking me to Dave......very nice guy but sorry I didn't catch his name.

Re: A great second trip
Early leave out of Nashville/BNA to Dallas/DFW went smoothly but connection in DFW was at a terminal on the other side of the road running through the middle of the airport but because of the location we walked it out and took the walk over as opposed to taking the Sky Train. It would have been about the same using either and we felt like a hike.
Flight to MBJ was about 3 hours and landed 20 minutes ahead of schedule and although I had mentioned Club MoBay, we didn't use that and just took the luck of the draw.
Airport was fairly crowded but we were out the door about one hour after De-boarding the plane and Wayne one of Rocky's drivers was waiting for us. Since we were staying at Point Village we had a planned stop at Mega-Mart to pick up some essentials and use the ATM for j's. Wayne forgot to pack a couple of beers for the ride to Negril but stopped at a convenience store near Mega-Mart. Along the ride in, Wayne has a little bar in route to Negril and he had also picked up some stuff at Mega-Mart for the bar and we dropped it off on the way. Also stopped for some patties at Juici's since we were starved.
Got to the condo in PV that Rolf May rents 105 about 4pm. Checking in at PV was simple as they expected us. We quickly unpacked some summer clothes to dress for the warmth of Jamaica and took a walk about the property with plans to go to Canoe for the Thursday night webcast and supper. Well that never happened since watching the sunset with the PV group that gathers near the saltwater pool, conversation, travel weariness, and sand gravity evolved. We spend the night at the condo watching the stars and drinking a few red stripes.
Next morning we enjoyed coffee sitting on our balcony...........to be continued

Re: A great second trip
And continued it is
To start Friday our first full day we got up drank some coffee ate a little breakfast we went to the beach. Point Village has 2 beaches, a family beach plus an adult beach where nudity is allowed and it is next to Hedo so for some folks you might want to stay away from that beach if offended by nudity.
PV also has a 3rd nice little area to snorkel with an easy ingress and egress even if the water is a little rough.
I meant to take pictures of each area but time just slipped away and the last day I never got around to it. Also picture taking was hampered by and afternoon rain each day that would last sometimes till almost dark.
I had contacted Lenbert (prior to the trip) for the One Love Bus Crawl and he picked us up at 2:30 pm.
Before the Bus Crawl we thought it would be best to get some food in storage to fight of the possibility of drunkenness therefore we caught a cab to Alfred’s and had fish and chips. Most excellent but the wait for the food was normal Jamaican time and took a while……….so do not go when you are starving which we weren’t.
Last year there were a total of 3 couples on the bus crawl but this year there were probably about 30 people total. It rained part of the time on the crawl but the biggest problem for Lenbert was, that it was Good Friday and some of the places he wanted to stop were closed for holiday.
Just like last year it was a/one highlight of our vacation in Negril, Lenbert is such a nice fellow and I believe someone referred to him as an
Ambassador of Negril and he certainly is!! Without his crawl people that stay only in all inclusive properties would never even see anything of the “real” Negril.
We stopped at appx. 6 places starting with Swordfish I believe, then Pee Wee’s, No Limit, Choices, Xtabi, Pushcart, Love Nest and back to No Limit where I met Rob the admin of Negril.com board. We had a brief and nice conversation and he told me why he edited and removed a picture and some comments from my post about Isla Mujeres. He said if I had read the user agreement and I laughed and said nobody reads that stuff :) Rob smiled also.
Just like last time when the crawl was over Lenbert delivered all of us back safe and sound.

Re: A great second trip
lathomas, I forgot to mention that when the Bus Crawl stopped at Choices, Grace the owner had a buffet laid out and for $5 you could enjoy the buffet and also a redstripe. A very good deal if you ask me. I asked Grace if she cooked pepper shrimp and she said no. I also asked if there were any street vendors that sold pepper/peppa shrimp in Negril and she said no but that gave her an idea a nitche might need to be filled so maybe in the future she will have peppa shrimp.
Rasta Stan, Nice you saw Rasta Dave and if you see him again tell me Larry and Beth said hello.

Re: A great second trip
We went to the beach, period and exclamation point.
Weather indicated the earlier the better and that is what we did. While at the beach where we had met a few nice Canadian folks and about midday a guy come up carrying a Caribbean Lobster or in Mexico a Langosta.
It was Fireman wearing an oriental hat. I had read about him from the board. One of the Canadians ordered one which Fireman would cook and bring back to Point Village for the guy (Doug).
So as clouds moved (predicted in the forecast) in, we headed back to the room to relax and watch it rain from the balcony, which it did for quite some time and almost till dark. I had spoken with Fireman and found out where he was established at Our Pastime and after the rain ended we took a walk to his location for dinner.
To walk to Our Pastime or basically to walk on Long Beach from Point Village you must first traverse Hedo right next door. I must say it was an interesting walk. Several people nude and some you would want to look at and some you might not want to not look at, if you get my drift. Beautiful people and not so beautiful people but they are all “just people” doing their thing! Jamaica and they are letting it “hang out”
So after the scenic tour through Hedo you still have a ways to walk to get to Fireman at the Our Pastime location, but it is an easy walk and through several AI hotels Sandals, etc. When you break out of the AI you are almost there. The selection of lobster, location, meal cooked by Fireman was excellent. Basically you pay Fireman for the lobster meal and Our Pastime bar for your drinks or at least that was our experience.
Walk back after dark is pretty much safe with just a short area to traverse that is not under security. We had absolutely no problem the first night other than some security checking to see where we were from and going and at Hedo they had to open the gate to let us in, but “no problem mon”!
Again ending with pictures.

Re: A great second trip
Day 3 started like the second, since the weather prediction was just like before (afternoon showers), we when to the beach early and didn't leave till rain was clearly approaching. We basically got cleaned up and set on the balcony watching it rain pretty hard at times and in the process saw some sort of Heron hunting for something to eat. The rain did not stop for quite a while so we just chilled out.
After the rain finally stopped we again went to Fireman's cook pit located at Our Pastime location. This time we made a selection of 2 smaller lobsters instead of splitting 1 large lobster like we did the first time. We had a nice meal again and although not planned, some of the Canadians that were also staying at Point Village showed up and we had a lot of laughs and good conversation.
After our meal was finished we walked back to PV and retired to the balcony to watch the waves and listen to the sound they would make lapping at the rocks and shoreline.
Again followed with pictures:

Re: A great second trip
I have a few others of Fireman and the little boy and some of just the little boy. The little guy has a very good personality and keeps his "chin up" so to speak
