I live in Clearwater, just about 30-45 min North of Sarasota
I used to always just fly out of Tampa, and got fairly good deals, but if you fly out of Tampa you always have to layover in Ft. Lauderdale or Miami which is just no fun!
Then 3 years ago I found out that Jet Blue has a direct flight out of Orlando. I have been doing that ever since. It is about anhour drive for us, but completely worth it. Jet Blue is an awesome airline, having a direct flight has now completely spoiled us, and I think the most we have paid was around $300-325 for a roundtrip flight....the lowest was around $225
I HIGHLY recommend the direct flight on Jet Blue from Orlando!
I would definitely NOT recommend ANY flight from anywhere on Spirit Airlines
Hope that helps!
I live in Savannah and the cheapest flights are out of Miami and Orlando. I plan to drive to MCO (jetblue)and catch a flight from there whenever I plan my next trip. Do whatever you have to do in order to save money!
i'm in Jacksonville and drive to Orlando for the wonderful non-stop flight to Montego Bay
sometimes I do a hotel that let's you park your car there while you are gone - costs about the same amount as parking at the airport alone
AirTran has a few non-stops from MCO also - just saw one for $284 RT -- just in time for the boardie bash - hmmmmm
Good point Seveen....Airtran is also a good option, we have done that direct flight from Orlando too once when we liked the arrival time better on the Airtran flight
I would rate it second to JetBlue but still both good options!
WARNING --- driving on the highway after visiting Jamaica may be hazardous to your health - when I get back I can hardly hit the brakes - and all the 18 wheelers and 5 lane highways creep me out - lol
LMAO!!!!
Same here :P
Thanks everyone ,looked at AirTran which is what I'm on out of chi town checked spirit(I know) everything's 400 or more which seems crazy to me from fl we'll check jet blue fi sure!
I don't know ,$606 on jet blue mid July ,I just don't get it?is something going on ?it must be a conspiracy!
you may be booking too far in advance
spirit from FLL has great sporadic specials. Am going next week for under $250 RT including window seats, but no luggage (backpack under seat only)
We made the drive once, when JetBlue had $89 flts to MoBay....but, living in the Pensacola area...it's SIX HOURS drive....even with 3-4 tanks of gas, and a park/sleep/fly deal, we still saved some bucks...but that drive home SUX!!
Jetblue has flights now starting at $183!! Airtran was at $191
Try skyscanner.com
did a lot of flights to MoBay the last year...live in St Petersburg, FL and flew out of Tampa and Orlando.......
basically check the Air Tran and Jet Blue Flights going out of Orlando........and Spirit out of Tampa
Spirit really stinks.........but the first part of the year you can't beat Spirit prices.......
right now the Spririty prices are really good out of Tampa......about $275 round trip......
afraid Spirit is who this guy is using when mi head back in a month for the summer.......
if you go down this summer or fall......
your best bet is flying out of Orlando as the flights are a lot cheaper than Tampa.....
the drive from Sarasota is all highway and goes pretty quick...
you can't beat the nonstop flights either out of Orlando.......it's heaven
Cool Runnings, Marko
Matrix.itasoftware.com. Auto search for flight/price and will notify you. Never used but but found it here on this board. Another reason why Negril.com is great. I flew Jet Blue from JFK instead of Newark. It was Great. No 1st class, they don't serve food which to me is annoying BYOF.
Completely agree that Spirit is the worst airline, but their sales are unbeatable.
My RT flight next week from FLL =$238. And didn't require me to join the $9 club.
Silliest part is breakdown of the fare: Flight = $66, seats = $28, taxes = $144.
Anyone flown internationally from anywhere to anywhere for less in the last decade?
From Tallahassee, we fly out of Orlando. The direct nonstop makes it worth the drive.
The rates do seem to be quite steep for July. Try to be flexible with dates and you might do better. I noticed that a one day difference meant a savings of over $300! We're going April 30th (out of Orlando) and got our tickets a few months ago for $263 rt per person. Now it's $720 per person!!! Totally crazy! I have noticed that they seem to increase the airfare for the summer as opposed to the winter, especially the closer you get. Doesn't make sense to me. Good luck and keep trying!
Oh, I forgot to mention, we use JetBlue. Nonstop is the only way to go.
thanks my flights are booked, just trying to help this even less computer literate than i am dude find a flight:) think ill go to skyscanner.com next!
