Or is it my imagination... I have my trip booked, but had not yet purchased the plane tickets. I went online today, and unless I am losing my mind (a distinct possibility) the prices have dropped about 10% since I checked in February.

Ive noticed this too! Ive been checking almost everyday since my last trip and the prices are going down :)
Funjet was going down $50 a week until it hit $393 and I jumped on that.
I got ours for $2900 round trip, this is a savings of $500 from what I saw a couple months back.
2900$ for plane trip? weh uunuh live? Africa?
If you are looking at direct flights out of PHL, then the prices have definitely gone down. The tickets I purchased over a month ago for our June trip are now $40 (each) cheaper.
Hahah ackee I was thinking the same thing.. Either that or you are a hussyband to 3 ladies
Lol. We fly 1st. Big guy, more comfortable. They were running $3300 round trip at the beginning of the year.
Definitely down, bought ours last week for $100pp less than last year, wanted to wait and see if they dropped more but we knew we could also pay more so didn't chance it!!
I'm actually noticing that prices are higher at this time, the difference could be that I'm Canadian and the flight prices may come down over the next while. Right now for me and my husband we're looking at around $2,600 (economy). We're waiting and watching for prices to drop.
Peace,

typically the airfares are higher during the summer......no way around it.......
Cool Runnings, Marko
We bought ours the other day for Feb. direct round trip from Toronto for 1321.14. The week before it was close to 2000
I just looked at some prices for Christmas 2013. They look a little higher than what I am used to. Of course, we usually fly during summer, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I'm just waiting on summer 2014 to come out.
The itinerary I'm looking at for August hasn't moved in quite a while. Out of MSP $600 on Delta. I'm hoping it will drop a bit soon so I can cross that off the list.
Very true. I couldn't even use my FF miles to book 1st class w/ American after June 1... not available at all during the summer for the usual 60K FF miles. Even coach required a 24 hour, overnight in Miami. No more usual numerous choices in each category. Airlines aren't the only ones who jack up their rates seasonally. My sister is getting ready to move & the movers boost their prices after May 15th. Not any different than the hotels charging higher rates during high season. Companies do this because they can & they know people will still pay. If one person won't, another surely will. I just bit the bullet & bought a 1st class ticket. By the time you add in the extras, it wouldn't have been that much of a price increase from coach. Plus, I deserve it :-)
I purchased tickets 6 weeks ago for oct trip. They are running about the same now as then.
Curiosly they are about the same price i paid 2 years ago. Still way to damn much.
Prices have been going down, winter season prices go up and come spring and summer the rates usually start coming down, not always but I have several destinations in the Caribbean flagged for price drops and they are all coming down, happy about MBJ, can't wait to get back to Negril. Flying out of ATL, there are always good sales going on.
Yvonne,I see you're out of Tampa, trying to help a newby out of Sarasota, what airline and route are you on?
It's worth the ride to Orlando. Two non stop flights most days (Jet Blue and Airtran). Keep checking prices and you'll find one that's really good.

Yvonna,
I was able to use my American FF miles for mid August, booked a few weeks ago. I had to be flexiable but not too bad...instead of a Sunday departure had to leave on a Monday and this year TWO stops instead of one....but no overnight. My flight down is NONSTOP!
For my dates in July, holding steady at $550 out of KC with one stop in ATL on Delta. Arrival and departure on Wed.
KAYAK is telling me to "Buy" as prices may increase in the next 7 days.
I read in consumer reports that you can save on airfare by shopping online between Monday and Wednesday (with Tuesday being the best day to buy). I have been watching fares for my family's September 28 - October 5 trip from Atlanta. I have noticed that this is true. Fares tend to be lower during those days (especially with Delta). Today Delta is $404 RT.
