If traveling from the US, no vaccinations required.
Wouldn't hurt to get a tetanus shot if you haven't had one in ten years...just sayin..
When you return from your trip you will have a common ailment known as PNS (post Negril Syndrome). The only known vaccine is to book another trip!

Well I am in the healthcare industry so I'm not worried about my vaccinations. God knows I would catch anything in this industry however , I have had my tetanus shot and my flu shot him and I already have the syndrome we know we are going to want to go back and already anticipate ongoing back in March lol. The thought of only being able to spend two weeks their antiphon of coming home is already making me sad. So maybe will just go and get his tetanus shot and then should be good.
What about the water ? I've been told its okay and that it isn't? So which is it?
Personally, in 30 years of traveling and living all around Jamaica I can say that I have never been sick from drinking the water. It sometimes tastes a little "crappy" to me but, nonetheless safe to drink. I, however, choose to drink bottled water most of the time for it's better taste.
The Water Systems of Jamaica are one good legacy of English Rule.

Come on in........the waters fine!
I always ask for "tap wata" at bars and restaurants. Its fine. This isn't Mexico...
And besides....where do you think the ice comes from? Or the water to wash your lettuce? Its all good....
Never had a problem with drinking the water in Jamaica. If in doubt ask for and use bottled water.

I'm one of those crazy people that love water, prefer it ice cold! I drink tons of it right out of the tap when I'm there and never had a problem. Now the PNS syndrome is a whole other thing! Seems I get it as soon as we get home and it hangs on right up until we land in Montigo Bay the next year!
Rock Rob: I needed a tetanus shot AFTER a trip, try walking around without cutting a foot! I also second the flu shot, wait till you sit next to a sickey on an enclosed airplane, remember the flu shot takes a couple of weeks to start protecting you!
jamaicas water rocks, we always drink the tap water, soon come
Thank u for the info. I get my flu shot yearly due to my job. N had to have stitches so my tetanus is up to date as well. Wish I had asked soon so we could get all his.
Never had a need for vaccinations except when I came to Jamaica from Afghanistan. Jamaican customs stopped me to make sure I was taking medications for malaria. Jamaica does not have malaria that I know of and I can only guess they wanted to make sure I wasn't bringing it in from Afghanistan.
