Wow! I missed having lobster in May, but our very special meals at the Charela made it all OK!
nice lobsters enjoy all.....BUT LET A FEW LIVE!!!
How long does the season last?
WOW!! LOVE lobster!!
okay, I was thinking the "closed" season was longer than "open" Saw the closed season is from April 1 - June 30. Now the next question is where to get the best lobster meals??? Can anyone share their favorite spot(s). I plan to get my fill during this upcoming reach.
WooHoo ....coming down in a couple weeks and thought lobster season was still closed. You made my day!!
*vi* - I have yet to try the lobster in JA, but many have told me I have to try it from 3 dives on the cliffs!
3 dives are good, but staying on the beach i get my lobster fix almost every day around 11:00 to noon, i pay 600 ja for a descent cooked lobster on a paper plate complete with a fork and napkin and a splash of lemon or lime from the guy with the lobster shirt, cheaper than Mcdonalds, soon come
said it once... Ill say it again... TEDDYS HIDEAWAY (inside the Blue Cave Castle)- LOBSTER THERMADORE ~trust!~
Bugs are OK but give me a plate of Conch anytime........Conch puts lead in the pencil.....Squid same way
I've had 3 dives before and was so disappointed I haven't returned. It could have been an off night. However I do remember the praises for Teddy's lobster thermadore being consistant. Murph you got my mouth watering so Teddy's is on the list!!!! Would I have to make reservations?? Jamaicarob, I've read mixed opinions regarding buying lobster on the beach like that, but I'm one who is open to trying things and finding out for my self. Think I'll look for the lobster shirt wearing guy this reach.
I only eat lobster in JA. Don't much care for what we have up here. Tastes different. Wife laughs at me though, because I am kind of like clockwork... Jerk chicken for lunch, lobster for dinner almost every day we are there. While I did not much care for the overall vibe at pressleys, he made a pretty mean lobster platter,
*vi* reservations arent really necessary, but a heads up might ensure enough lobsters and ensure Teddy is working that night. Id just walk to the gate "ask for Teddy" and go say hello and tell him your game plan. Go for a swim in the caves n chill on the grounds... then love yourself with some of Teddys magic.
We had the conch at Ivans last year and it was awesome, haven't had lobster in a couple of trips so we may have to have that this year.
[QUOTE=murph;100563..... Go for a swim in the caves n chill on the grounds... then love yourself with some of Teddys magic.[/QUOTE] NICE suggestion murph. in fact it's SO nice I'm going to check with him on my first night in Negril instead of waiting till night #2. I might have to go back for a repeat of his lobster expertise.
Bnewb, I never heard of fried lobster but it sounds delish. Might have to give 3 dives another try.
when you go back- try the "Coolie Sing Ting" its wifey's favorite (next to the thermadore)
Enjoy vi!
Sounds interesting. What is it???
We had a great lobster thermidore at Ivan's last December. I couldn't believe how many places, including one of the beach vendors, were still selling lobster in late April/early May when the season was closed. I'd love to try lobster on the beach, but I don't want to buy from the guy that was selling it out of season.
Kuyaba has really nice lobster, also! Last summer I tried the Spa Retreat's lobster...also very good. Of course, 3 Dives was delicious. I am definitely planning my next trip to be during lobster season, haha!
Try LTU pub on the cliffs next to Ricks Café I have had good meals there.
