Wow, if that is true (and I've heard rumors to this effect before about not being local friendly) Samsara is most definately off my list! More fyah!
We spent 4 nights at Samsara this April using a 4 day voucher for that exact price. I liked the property (even though there were some issues with the room), we had all-inclusive and the food was basic but edible, the employees were all friendly... But the owner was there, at the bar, eating meals among guests, walking around... but never in the 4 days we were there did he say a word to us. Not hello, or welcome, or ask how our stay was, even when walking right past us or sitting at the table next to us for a meal. I found him off-putting, his presence for reasons I cannot quite explain made me uncomfortable. Maybe it was that he never seemed to smile? That the employees didn't seem happy to have him around? Whatever it was, it was weird.
Looking at some of those other offers, it's making me rethink our decision to put off our fall trip to Negril this year so we can afford to do two weeks in Europe next spring for our wedding anniversary and my 40th...
wow if all this is in fact true someone needs to talk sense into the owner ... he is hurting his business.
This sounds exactly like the owner Maurice. I will never forget the way he embarrassed and disrespected me and my wife. This was after many years of patronage. I posted my account on this site and it should be in the archives. I woul never give that man one penny of my business. Just ask a local person about him. To him we are just cattle. Just wanted to warn others of the potential of a hostile and negative experience if you deal with this unbalanced phsycotic person.
Country Country's deal isn't bad. When comparing to Negrilonestop's specials, if staying for 7 nights (you get one free), you'd save about $10/day WITHOUT the included dinner (compared to Livingsocial) in a superior room. So you'd essentially get dinner for two everyday for $10 with the living social deal. If with the living social deal you got a premium room, you'd save about $10/night on the room and the dinner for two would be free and clear. That's taking into consideration adding the 20% tax to the living social deal. Just be clear when booking with the hotel that the tax is on the amount paid, not their listed value (regular price). There was issues with that with CC's groupon last year. They did try to charge me tax on the regular price (and others), but I insisted it be on the price I paid. I'm sure they've learned from the experience, just something to watch for if purchasing this deal. Otherwise, CC is my favorite place on the beach and the food at the restaurant is very good!
We must be the exception to the rule ~~ cannot wait to get back to SamSara ~ where we are treated like royalty ALL the time, EVERY time :)
I've stayed at Samsara and based on my experiences I agree that they are NOT at all local friendly!
I can't imagine staying at a hotel where my Jamaican son, daughter and family could not be with us.......
BTW.....I reserved a table for ten at Seastar next Saturday night for the family.......nothing but fun,,,,,,,
I'm with you Patricia. Their property has improved leaps and bounds over the years and nothing beats their pillar house. I stay other places, too, but always spend at least a couple nights at Samsara. Maurice is not sociable but hasn't ever been a problem. I agree it's not good business, but if he doesn't care, I don't either. And I get too good a deal to complain about much so... 2 1/2 more weeks and I'm home again.
That review about the owner at Samsara is surprising to few LOL I didn't have the "pleasure" of meeting him, but I did get the feeling that no-one was happy to work for him. Wouldn't stay there again based on ALL the negative things I've heard...
Really liked COuntry Country....if you can get a good deal on that I'd say GO for it
