Am I crazy for considering selling some of the stuff I don't really need to pay for Jamaica? I kinda feel like a crackhead with that thought. Has anyone done things like that? I guess I'm trying to justify it.

No it is not wrong if you won't regret doing it. Or just wait until you can feel good about going and save for it. People may tell you what they have done to save money. What works for them may not work for you. Good luck!
Yep, not only do I sell stuff on ebay thay we don't use or need to go to Jamaica but a couple of years ago we collected up a bunch of silver and gold jewelry that was broke, missing stones etc, and I think a couple of pieces old silver cutlery and sent it off to a place online called Midwest Refieneries. I couldn't believe it when the check they sent us was $1400 It paid for our trip. I learned about the place because it is where jewelry makers send their silver shavings and scrap.
No-Not at all...I recerntly moved and really down-sized..Feels liberating..my personal moto is "Experiences" is worth more than "Stuff"....So dig in and find as much as you can and get to selling....good luck
ps. you certainly wont miss the stuff
But if you are selling stuff just to go on vacation, then I'd rethink that. What about a part-time job? Or setting aside a little bit each month? We all understand wanting to go back over and over again, but you don't want to put yourself in financial strain because of it. Better to save and have enough money to enjoy yourself while there! :)
I find no problem with it! Most of us have way too much "stuff"! Now days with e-bay, etc...it's easier than ever. Just make sure it is not something that you really need or has strong sentimental value. Good luck!
if you don't need it, and won't miss it, sell it and get your butt to Jamaica.
Nope. Its a good idea. No need in letting items that can be reused sit around collecting dust...good luck!
Beebeluv I saw that you have had some upset in your life lately. Are you wanting to go away in April? You will make it back. Nice you enjoyed yourself.
Just sold my kidney to this guy behind the hospital to pay for my trip.
The first year we went to Jamaica 17 years ago I was debating whether to spend the money. A lady I worked with that had been going for many years told me to just go. Her husband had had a stroke the year before and between his health and medical bills, etc they were losing their house and could no longer go. She told me that the memories she made there would be something that she treasured no one could ever take away. She was right. Not saying that anyone should choose Jamaica over their home, car etc, but if it is just stuff especially no longer used are worth getting rid of to go make memories.
A few years ago LOML and I sold silver and gold to assure our trip!
I have been selling a bunch of stuff my son has grown out of (we're 'one and done') for my spending money for my trip. We cloth diapered and man, these things are worth a mint after you're done with them! Especially the wool pants we needed to use because he was a heavy wetter (the wool doesn't leak and makes for non-wet sheets in the morning). I have made nearly all of my spending money and I haven't even gotten to the diapers yet - just the wool pants and I'm already up over $300 bones! Yeah!
Fred - thanks for the kidney. I really needed it!
Hey, Fred promised it to me. Allready paid for it. Now he owes me a drink next trip
I was just kidneying you.
