Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
i find the more often i go the less i get propositioned but how can we, in the nicest possible way, turn down the many offers we get for companionship?

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
Tell them you are HIV positive, and sometimes even that won't work because you will get "Wellllll dat what condoms are for."

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
I have found that many single women who travel to Negril solo actually welcome and enjoy the attention. I think back home when they are walking through the mall, Wal-Mart etc etc, that maybe they don't receive all the compliments, looks, attention in general. A lot of the women are older, a little heavier from all the foods we eat here in the states. But, when they hit the beach in Negril they are made to feel like a movie star that just stepped out of a limo.

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
lmao... reverse phsycology at its most entertaining...
conversation translated into american slang.... not about to attemp patois...
Him: " hey girl, you look good. how about you and me spend some time?"
"US": " You gotta job?" or " I would like a rum punch." (don't ask for dirty banana... he might say I got your dirty banana and that would defeat the purpose)... or "OH i just love this bracelet(trinket, ect.) will you get it for me?"
Him: "oh... (long pause) I think I hear my friend calling me"
why... because he was a gigalo... lol unfortunatly ladies your "boyfriends" I'm not saying every single one but most are not really your boyfriends they take care of your physical while your there but they get stuff out of it and you know it. wheather or not your paying him blatently for it or you pay for his food and drinks while your there he's still a "working man" and when you leave it's "NEXT!"... Sorry but yeah ... Again I'm not saying it's true for all cases but most of them ...that's how it is. don't fool yourself and get hurt... last thing you want is to inadvertantly hurt yourself from being "blind"... I love this thread tho... keep the rejection lines coming....lol

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
And turning his questions on himself is always a good move. If he wants a drink, tell him to buy you one first...etc.
One guy asked for my number;I told him to top up my phone and he could call me. He just kissed his teeth and moved along.:)

i've known the score for a long time but sometimes it's tempting especially when alcohol clouds your judgement. a friend of mine went to negril, i warned her up and down not to get involved with the beach boys, sure enough she did (she's very trusting) and sure enough he asked her for gifts from home. i think it bothered her that she didn't find the one genuine guy on the beach.
'don't ask for a dirty banana' haha good advice!

sometimes their sense of humour is lacking but reverse psychology may be a good strategy.

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
This is one thing I'm really not excited about, especially since it's just the two of us gals travelling together. We've both been happily married for 10+ years and that's so not what we're there for...
How does the simple ignoring tactic work?

I have discovered a 'weird little trick' for getting folks to respect your personal space.
It is a little bit cumbersome, however...
And tends to distract oneself from full enjoyment of one's surroundings...
Yet, for those times when you really just want to be left alone,
It works perfectly:
Simply pretend to be talking on your cell phone.
For some reason, perhaps out of an awareness that cell phone time is almost literally money, folks really back off when they see the hand to ear...
Having some imaginary conversation demanding the 'documents' from the imaginary other party doesn't hurt either...
While this is somewhat of a pain, it definitely works.
Take care and have fun!

I have used this trick also. Another one I love is pretending not to speak English. This works well in NOLA. Lots of street beggars there and when you don't speak English they have always left me alone.

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
I have never been approached in that way before in Negril. I must not be what they are looking for! LOL
-
Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
each trip i get less and less ish --- the beach boys know i don't mess with them lol - lost cause "bargaining" with me
one last trip a new beach boy was dancing and preening in front of me
another beach boy shouted out to him --- she don't mess with no beach boys
so now the beach boys are my security . . . :-)
now . . . in the past i have told them i'm a hooker on vacation lol
but in reality --- just say no and disengage immediately (and don't buy a drink and think they're going to move on down the road)
and it's funny how they can find your most horrible feature and make you think - they've never seen anything like that before --- and they like it - oh the game
-
Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
Beat 'em to the punch! before they get a word in, tell them they look like they might like some company and you'd be happy to spend some time with them if they will buy your drinks and dinner ect...or straight up name a price!! lolol. "Im out of $ and have a couple more days left" hahahaha Sorry if someone else threw it out there already I haven't read all the way through...
....honestly I usually just laugh and say Nooo while trying to walk and pry my hand away....they will walk with you lol I like to make them laugh though its fun... you make nice and it's all good.
One guy @ bourbon beach was layin it on real thick and I was pretty well on my "trail of bottlecaps" (borrowing ur catchphrase poolguy).....anyways that particular exchange was a little more direct LOL Still funny

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
On my morning walks with my headphones I don't get approached at all. Otherwise, I tell them that I'm here with my daughter and husband, and every single time they apologize and walk away. Although, I was sitting at the bar once with my 5 year old and was still approached, I thought that for sure she would be the perfect shield. As soon as I said that I had a husband as well, he backed off. Although....I have been hit on when my husband has walked away from the bar, knowing full well that he's my husband. LOL

I also say I can't afford a "friend" by saying that they will never be at Western Union collecting my hard earned money.
I don't get approached as much anymore b/c most have realized that I'm not there to meet a man. When the new ones come around, there is always a regular letting them know the deal.
I also use the same response when somebody uses the Stella line by reminding them what Stella's choice ended up being!

Nix this one too....there is a upper echelon level of them who DO buy you this and that and wine you and dine you AT FIRST... and you are busy telling your girlfriends that he is the REAL DEAL, and after they have you sufficiently primed you will get the calls or the scheme. Just stay tuned for future programming.

LMAO off at this one. Might work on some, but I once saw a guy stand by a fence in the sun for almost 3 hours trying to get the come over from one of my girls. If they are determined they will watch you from afar and the second you put that phone from your ear they are ON IT .
FYI... most beach gigs know Italian, Romanian, Japanese... French,... you name it . LMAO

That would probably work pretty good... except in a few rare cases you might get a good bumba cussing out.

You could always try, I am a lesbian... but be prepared to get "OOOO can I watch???" LMAO

Well, that's why I use that one in the US! Haha!
I've never been bothered, that or I am oblivious to it!

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
I have found that a smile and a No go a long ways.. I've told them I am married, but because my husband and I are not attached at the hip (and he is hiding in the shade while I am in the sun) they always want to know where he is, and why would he leave a "beautiful angel" alone, that I need a Jamaican boyfriend who would never leave me alone, blah blah blah.. I usually just smile, and say, "he's always watching", then wave to my husband who waves back (because he really is always watching ;) ) the boys will usually just give a thumbs up or shout something to my husband..
This past trip early on in the vacation I rebuffed a beach boy and he took it quite well, after that he would pass me every day and just say "Good morning my angel" or something along those lines.
It's all good..

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
Funny thing is the ladies are just as bad, in fact worse because they are more discreet about it. Just like the guy visitors who partake, who are more discreet than lady visitors. Did that make sense? Read it twice real slooooooow.
The beach boys talk an amazing game and I often find myself cracking up watching them in action. The crude ones are apprentices......

Re: Ladies: What is the kindest and most humorous way you rebuff the beach boys?
Hehe this is funny!!!!
For me at first they usually think I'm Jamaican so they treat me like homegirl until they find out mi not at that moment let the charm begin lol!
I use...
1) I already have a JA boo they then ask you meet his family...yes...that usually ALWAYS get them a moving.
Or
2) I just let them kno mi not a newbie to JA I kno d ropes they laugh and usually keep it moving
Its funny to me I don't see no harm done Its flattering if you can stick to your guns and not fall in d web...otherwise it will be an expensive flatter!
