The quality is so much better here and it is legal in many states if you are licensed. The Ganga in Jamaica has a long way to go to become competitive with what is going on in the rest of the world. I no longer am even really interested in the JA herb until they join the globalization of good herb. And the government needs to get on board as it is one of the top ten growing small businesses in Michigan. There is a lot of tax revenue being generated by the legalization of herb here in Michigan. The Federal Government has recently announced they will no longer attempt to override State laws regarding herb. They too see the revenue being generated by legalization and are beginning to realize the impact it is having on our legal system when there are many more serious issues that need to be addressed.
Agreed
It's interesting to see how things are loosening up within the States, but not the case for Canadians crossing the border. Never mind criminal records for possession (even if it was pardoned), I heard recently that they asked Canadians at the border if they've ever smoked it, when they answered yes, they were denied entry. Seems to me that it was even noted so that they would be denied entry in the future as well. This was told to me by a co-worker, who had been told by someone that this happened to, so you never know all the truth in it...but it is beginning to seem that the "war against drugs" is for people living outside of the States.
i llive partime in Cali..there is no comparison -we have some of the best with the largest selection...Jam's very weak compared...
It might be better in the states but can you get a pound for $50 US like u can in jamaica??
You have never been so wrong! The conditions for growing weed in Jamaica are some of the best in the world! You have no clue what you are talking about. Typical talk from those who do not know!
Looks like the Observer thought it was worth sharing too:

Ok George Lenard......talk about not having a clue. Jamaican herb tops out at 8% THC where as humbolt county herb tops out at 20% THC. Jamaica might have decent conditions but they don't have the genetics. They might tout choc thunder, pineapple and skunk varieties but the truth is its all lambsbread. The best thing Ja herb has going for it is price and being grown organicly. George , I have a clue, you obviously don't.
@tubes. There are many variety of ganga in Jamaica. The indians brought over the good kush from the Hindu Kush Mountains(of which i have traveled to). This is some of the finest herb in the world hands down. 90% of the strains from Cali have kush cloned into it to make it strong!! I have also been to Garberville, Humbolt ect. and its very good too. Orange Hill has 18%THC herb mostly kush that the older school growers have carried on. I have also seen them recently mix the Cali herb with the old jamaican kush. i have been in Orange hiil and Cali herb magazines were up there getting seeds. So the jamaicans must be doing something write. Your statement about Jamaica having ****ty herb is false. You must not know where to go!!
Not gonna get into pi$$ing contest with you, but never said Ja gang was bad, I actually like it better than the mutated stuff being sold in Cali. That being said there is no way Ja Ganga is 18% not even close. I was down there with High Times in 2010 for a photo shoot, those guys and girls know there stuff. Did we run scientific tests on it, no. But I will believe a bunch of professional stoners over you any day. This is why I don't post here, 99% members are awesome, 1% turds like you.
Wow, that was uncalled for. Are you doing drugs or something? :)
lol...now now...why is it, this always happens...it isnt the subject matter that someone posts, but who posted it??, results in "slams"
While you all think you know what your talking about...... Thc levels have probably been tested in Jamaica but I can pretty much guarantee CBD levels havent so your arguements are for nothing... Like has been said... Jamaica doesnt have the "looker" ganja... But it is definatly potent.... Just like the coffee grown there... You can try to make it the same but it wont happen without jamaica soil and climate.
Like someone else said you just arent getting the right connection in ja.
All of the conditions for growing herb are 100 percent controlled by the growers here. The light, the nutrients, the water, the ventilation, the soil or hydroponics, the best seeds. There is no comparison or variety like we have here in Michigan. Plus it's legal. I lived in Jamaica for many years and had access to some of the best and only wish my husband would have lived to see how acceptable it has become. Again, Jamaica needs to get on board to provide gainful legal employment to the people as well as the tax revenue generated. True the conditions are excellent but these days there is much room for improvement.
Yes, man will always try to improve, regulate, and tax what Jah provide. More fyah! I have seen some very pretty herb in Jamaica; grown with love, soil, sunshine and rain.
Also happy to hear what is going on in the Retreat area. But let's not give away all of Jamaica's secrets. Also, my late husband always insisted on no ferty. To him the herb was the same as his fish which I saw him spit out and throw more than once if it was not organic and had no quality.
"Think globally, act locally." Hazel Henderson
Probably one of those people that thinks if its purple its better...smh.... Temperature and cultivation time ... Whatever.... Have fun arguing a pointless arguement!!!!!
Would everybody just light up and relax!
I cut my teeth on what the Vietnam Veterans were bringing home from Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. Wow! I believe that had a definite impact on the Hippie Movement and the growing interest in Jamaica's herb. I agree with Peter Tosh and his advocacy for legalization. It is a very sad day in Jamaica when the helicopters fly in and chop down in one day many people's months of hard work and what they were depending on to feed their families is up in flames.
Hey man, enuf with the algebra and pass the pipe.
what you get, depends on where you get it. who you get it from. etc..
I have seen some stuff down there, that rivals some of the premium we get here. You just need to know how to get it.
On average, though.. The potency is higher in the states. But, I couldn't tell you where to find "Dirt, brick, Schwag" or whatever else it's called. I'm not sure it exists in the middle class culture in the US anymore. It's readily available to the tourists in JA though.
When we arrive a get some from one of the family and of course it's the best they have.
One funny thing......... I get enough for a a couple of Jamaica sized spliffs which lasts us for about a week. LOL
At our age if we smoke too early the day is finished and I can't get anything done.
capt. same here. i dont really partake too often. i end up giving it to someone else in the end.
Remember Ganja is illegal in Jamaica, and visiting a field you possibly could be charged with "possession"...knowing this..read my trip report and make your own decision on going on a tour.???
we had a riot on the one we went on...we drove around for a bit, if to confuse us, it worked!......
we then got out and walked for what seemed like miles..its been many years since I "humped" in a jungle, all up hill, (both ways!)....in 95 degree heat 100% humidity,So it wasnt long before I was totally drenched in sweat and insects. We walked past many sitting outside in their "yards" and we just gave and received smiles for all.....we went across streams of mud and animal waste..meant to further confuse and deter any "lookers"... but when THAT SMELL hit me, I knew we had finally arrived, it was as if 100 skunks had "visited" the area!! :)
some of the plants were taller than I (I'm 6-4)..............and all ready to pick..another field was some distance away with all newer plants...
we were as part of the "deal" allowed to "pick one" to take back...we spent some time chatting with the "farmer"... he was a very educated man, and knew all about
the product, cross breeding and so on.........He liked my questions I guess, because as we left, he shook my hand and passed a "lump" to me.......Wow I have enjoyed it for over 50 yrs now,,,and what he passed me was right up there..it wasn't long before my wife was watchin me "walk around with the little animals" so to speak...lolAttachment 30676
Although it is illegal, if you can try and take a "tour" ...it is fun, and a bonus...you will see Jamaica like you have never seen it...........dont forget your camera...it will be a "keeper"...
just remember it is illegal, dont wind up in the "pokey"...lol
Attachment 30677
Booger and Rambo too funny..all i know is my horticulturally inclined friends in various places of the world are in their mad-laborties creating the insane buds..high-shelf genetics..from true professionals, etc.that collect seeds, etc from allover the world..I may self partake very lightly..but having been allover the island trying out cook chops and herbs..yes, their some decent stuff out there-stuff would make most happy..but still pales in comparison to what other have recently created..like a great wine-all depends on genetics, soil, nutrients, sunshine and care...I will say its hard to beat the experience of a good spliff in the right situtation in Jam..(beautiful countryside, sublime cliffs or spiritual nyabinghi gathering)..it certainly enhances the experience..jams crops certinaly have upped the anty(will happen when others bring over new genetic strains)..but being the best in world...IMHO -again IMHO....if i had only one chance of the most potent-it would be cali and the NW.....again just IMOP..not trying to win a contest here..so need to be in attack mode..semi-public forum-publi opinion
good point.......half of the enjoyment is not the strength, but the surroundings that you are in...
Here in the states I almost never indulge anymore, it's just too expensive for anything other than ditch weed. On the occasions when I do, the high strength one hit stuff is fine. When I'm in Jamaica I enjoy lingering leisurely with a big fat spliff. If it were the super strong franken-weed being created here I'd never be able to move.
What ? You mean there is gambling here in Casablanca ?
I like to think of it as an all day lollipop!...
The segment on "60 Minutes" regarding the legalization of herb in Colorado just stated that it has brought Colorado out of the recession with the dispensaries, the factories created to produce the edibles and other ancillary companies. The feds stated that their only interest is keeping it out of the hands of children and organized crime. They know there is not a jury in Colorado that will convict anyone who uses medical marijuana. Recreational legalization becomes effective January 1st. Just look for the green cross. Way to go Colorado!
