Great pics Roots, Dec 66 I would have been turning 1 y/o.
Thanks for posting and keep them coming please.
Mom is so proper and stylish in her dress. Things have changed soooo much since then. Would love to see more of these.
Thanks for sharing. Is that a ford Zodiac?
Maybe an Anglia
My parents honeymooned in JA In the early 70's. Thanks for the pics. It reminds me that I should ask them if they have any old photos!
Wow! Cool pics. Its nice to see pics of Jamaica from way back when.
This is so cool, I love any old Jamaica stuff!!

Not sure of the car make Big Frank, except that it was a European make.
I've heard tell that there were alot of those on island at the time.

These were taken in Ocho at a property where the Turtle Towers now sit.

Big Frank.....I believe your right...looks like about a 1964 Anglia......in 70's Russia shipped many "Lada's"..
and the British Ford Anglias fell to the roadside and wrecking yards after parts became scarce
GREAT POST if you have more pics, I know its a lotta work..:) but please do some more

Those pictures are amazing. What a contrast..the country road scenes and the resort setting...silver tea and coffee service! It must have been a true adventure in those days compared to the kind of trip most of us take now!
The remarkable thing about these wonderful photos is that much of Jamaica of today is recognizable. The boat with the roof covering could be on any beach in 2013; the resort constructions are little changed; the cement sidewalks, the beach scene; still looking like our Jamaica today.
Of course things were more formal in those days both in Babylon and Jamaica.
I agree w big frank , that style boat can be seen many times over on the beach.
Roots, I would love to know the background as to how and why your parents chose JA and how long to travel. Your pictures make me curious and wanting to see more. Thank you for sharing
Beautiful photos & year 1966 when we (England) won the world cup ;)
oh my goodness what a TREAT! Thanks for sharing.
Well if this thread isn't the coolest.....don't know what is. Thank you so much!
The finer places in MoBay, in the 80's looked right out of a "James Bond" movie...all who had it,wore formal wear for dinner..........and yes the table-food-service, all rated 5 Stars !!!
You were really "pampered"
Roots.....I love the old photos..Hope you dont mind, but I "restored one I'm using as a "screen saver", I used filters to mimic the photo processing of the 60's...........
Again Keep up the Good work!!
