Hotels Must be doing well?
Over the past 2 weeks I have contacted numerous hotels in Negril with regard to availability over Christmas and New year. These include Treehouse, Catcha, Crystal Waters, Rockhouse and Negril Escape.
I have even sent messages through Twitter.
With the exception of Rayon, thank you Miss Pansy I have had no replies. Is this usual?
I know a couple of the above are regulars on here so I would welcome their input.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
I know Negril Escape is closed for the month of September, so that may be why you didn't get a response. Don't know about the others, but I think its unusual that you didn't hear from any of them.
Try sending your questions to Negril OneStop - they are very responsive and can probably respond to you with the availability of each of these hotels in a single e-mail. I would be surprised if some of these places are fully booked already.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Mike,
Thank you for the heads up regarding Negril One Stop, I will definitely do this.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Not sure why you haven't gotten a response from Treehouse. They are usually very prompt with their responses. You could PM boardie gailnegril directly as she is the owner.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
I got a reply from Crystal Waters, but it took a few attempts and several days. They were fully booked for early January.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Negril hotels are notorious for poor response to emails. Just checked hotelscombined or kayak, plug in your dates, and you will see a list of available hotels. Not sure about the Christmas, but the rates for the fall are the lowest I have ever seen.

Another good site to check is Trivago. They will list all booking sites with availability and the prices on each site...doesn't always mean that the hotel is sold out though...the booking site can be sold out of rooms that they're allotted but the hotel may still have some. It's a good starting point. I got a great deal for Coco in November via Trivago on booking.com. A week or two ago, Negrilonestop advertised a special at Country Country over Xmas/New Years.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Twitter? That might be a problem? email would be better, as stated a lot of hotels are closed right now for sprucing up maintenance and repairs.

it's not that the hotel and resorts are doing well.....
it's the time of year you are making your inquiry about....
by far the busiet time and most expensive time of the year....Negril is packed then.....
plus it's the easiet time for hotels to fill their places too....
thus they might not move as fast as usual to your inquiry........
you need to contact a lot of places around a year in advance.......
or at least before the summer for the holidays to secure your spot at the nicer places.....
still rooms available but you aren't gonna get your pick unless there is a cancelation.........
you'l have better luck on the Cliffs versus the Beach.........
mi will be der then.........hope to see a lot of boardies

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Other places to try are Wild Parrot and Le Mirage.
-
Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Marko,
This will be our fourteenth year so I am well aware of what you are saying.
Mine main point was the lack of response.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
We inquired with the Wild Parrot ..about a booking for next April ..
& never received any word back ..
Booked with Mom's Place .. excellent customer service & great rate

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Do you by any chance have a URL in your standard email header or footer? Just asking because I manage several mailing lists and am increasingly seeing such email flagged as spam. Depending on the email provider and client, once something is flagged as spam it may simply vanish, or it may be stashed in a spam folder that is rarely or never examined.
If you use a small or private ISP, there is also always the possibility that someone using your ISP is sending spam so email from everyone using your ISP is getting blocked.
I have no idea whether anyone would pay attention to Twitter messages. I personally don't.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
wrtii, thank you for your explanation but this is not an issue. If Rockhouse and other hotels are going to use a twitter account to interact with guest on daily basis and to increase their brand awareness then they should also be prepared to reply to followers. Don't forget I had already emailed them and was using Twitter as a last resort.
I love JA for its laid back soon come attitude so I guess I can't moan too much when I am seeing the other side of the coin.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
I had your same experience with booking for XMAS/NYE but I started the process in February and even back then places were either totally booked or the number of rooms we needed weren't available. It also took awhile to get a response from certain places.
Try NBCC through Jean Gaynair.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
mi hear ya.....and mi have to admit Jamaica isn't big on emails......
mi always tell everyone to call versus emails....you'll get a response......or a faster response....
now if people ran their businesses like their personal life in Jamaica......
you could just text or BBM dem and you'd be all set...... ha ha

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
You also have to be careful with those that allow booking on line. I recently booked two rooms at CC on line, only to find out by email after I booked our air tickets that those rooms were not available for our first night. Luckily they offered us one of the morass side apartments for that night.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Thank you Gail, I have your email now.

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Marko,
Are you staying at Jackie's this year?

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Hello CrazyBaldhead,
We are sorry for your inconvenience, most of the hotels on the West End road have been experiencing some serious problems with phone line and internet over the past few weeks, when you call you can hear it wringing but we are not hearing this in the office, we were out of internet access on the west End all day yesterday.
Again we are so sorry for your Inconvenience.
We have since added a cell number 1876-5224227

Re: Hotels Must be doing well?
Generally, I would estimate if you send email inquiries to 30 Negril hotels, you'll get about 10 responses .... Some don't even answer their phones regularly. It's just the way it is in Jamaica and in some ways it's all part of the charm of being in a remote location.
