Who makes the best pot of coffee in Negril?
I love my coffee. I buy the finest and grind my own beans and percolate a pot every morning. I plan to do the same when on my stay at the beach Oct. 5 to 12. I was hoping to find a place that serves something I will enjoy. Something special like might be found at a coffee shop here at home with treats Jamaican style. Are there such places in Negril? I will drive as far as I have to if there are recommendations. I love Blue Mountain and always keep some I order online. I was also hoping to visit a coffee plantation and grab some fresh roasted beans to take home. How long a ride would that be and what might my experiences be like. Does anyone have any pictures or stories?
I'm really getting psyched about this mini vacation. I hope to come back to Jamaica at least once a year from now on.

Great. I haven't had French pressed Blue Mountain before. I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks.

Re: Who makes the best pot of coffee in Negril?
Mr. Nutz LOVES the coffee at Country Country - it's strong but that's how he likes it :)

Re: Who makes the best pot of coffee in Negril?
One of the many wonderful things about staying at the Blue Cave Castle is the free Blue Mountain coffee that they have starting at about 5AM and going all morning. But the best cup of coffee I ever had was the french pressed Blue Mountain at Canoe. Pure bliss...

Re: Who makes the best pot of coffee in Negril?
I've had very good coffee on the beach at Idle Awhile :)

Re: Who makes the best pot of coffee in Negril?
Hard to beat the sunrise brew at Catcha. I'm sure it has to do with ambiance as well as the beans but whatever, it's really good.

Blue Cave Castle has great Blue Mountain Coffee.

Re: Who makes the best pot of coffee in Negril?
I found Cafe Goa's coffee too strong/dark. I really liked the coffee at the Blue Mountain Coffee shop just a few doors north, no bitterness. Also loved the coffee at Canoe.
Al, I've read there's a guy named Thunder who roasts beans to order. Not sure if he's by Cafe Goa? Somewhere along that area.

I love very strong coffee. I have never had it too strong for my taste. I'm making a list tonight so I won't forget even one recommendation listed here.
Thanks for yours.

That's something I like. I am awake at 3AM every morning for work and am sure this will continue while in Jamaica. At our usual place I made a pot and walked the beach until the Mrs. awoke. I always brought extra empty cups and covers from Dunkin Donuts for the walk. Then off to Alfred's for breakfast. I'll have to change the routine I guess if there are other places within walking distance.
Blue Cave Castle sounds familiar. I think we may have been there once. We did take a boat ride to see what everything looked like from the water up to the Light House.

Looks like we'll be busy every morning. I have a strange reaction to coffee. I drink a pot and take a nap. This can't be normal, can it?

Now that's just down the beach for us. I see it so many times and it's about time we stopped in.

Sunrise seems to be something I've missed. Now let me get this right. I know the sunset is best from the cliff but the sun rise would be blocked from where we stay. I'll have to look up Catcha so see where it is.

I'll have to give this list to Bones, our driver from the past. We called the Beachcomber club for a ride and requested him and they said they knew him. I haven't heard back so I hope they contacted him and he is able to make it. If not I would think they would send someone else. I wish I had his cell number or be able to look it up but all I know him by is Bones.

I've grown to like Blue Mountain Dark Roast and love it strong. I'll look for the shop. Canoe and Caves seems to be recommended by many. Thanks Melody.

I think finding the best coffee is like the best jerk chicken-timing is everything.

You would like the coffee at Country Country, strong but not bitter. Go for breakfast one morning, best banana pancakes, carafe of coffee and juice, about $10. Beautiful sea view, right on the beach. Breakfast isn't served past 10:30 though.

Me and mine agree - French pressed at Canoe!

Aubie when he had his place across from Miyard....Cafe Goa a close second though.

I haven't seen anyone comment on Alfred's. I may not spend much time there is they're brew is not up to stuff. I can see spending time with those banana pancakes though.

I am definitely going to The Canoe for some of that Pineapple Chill in Nov. Some how we ran out of days in April and never made it.

Re: Who makes the best pot of coffee in Negril?
There was a coffee shop/bar I went to 4 years ago that had just opened on the road toward the cliffs, I can't remember the name. It had a second floor deck looking out on the ocean. Not sure if it is still open, I think it was run by a Canadian dude. All I remember was we drank beer in the morning and coffee at night. Both were very tasty. It had a great vibe and at night bands performed, along with a fire eater.
