cosmo's for a morning on the beach and lunch and drinks and then a walk back down the beach
Have to agree with Cosmo's. We go at least one every visit, even when starting at an all inclusive.
Mi friends yard
Porter's Cave in Red Ground. I'm still s kid at heart.
Regards,
Bob
Keep 'em coming ...
We always put tegether a 3 must do's every vacation
I am trying to get the attraction of The Pelican Bar. This is one thing we will for sure do when we are there in March only because of what I've read on this forum - everyone seems to love it! From the pictures it just looks kind of...(please don't get mad at me) boring. I guess it's kind of like a "when you go, you'll know" sort of a thing?? Anyway, I trust you all and am looking forward to "getting it"!
A trip to the RED DRAGON for hot pork and COLD BEER
A afternoon at Whoopie Park................its going to be hard this year.
The Pelican Bar ... just has a Cool vibe to it ... Kinda like going to Negril ..
(without going to Rick's ..yeah ..I know ..we've all been there .. if not for only 1 drink..)
We like Sir D's lookout ..
Grab yourself a driver & make a day trip of it ...
Black River Gator Tour/Pelican Bar/YS Falls/Appleton/Bamboo Alley
..or choose from the above ..if it's too much to jam into 1 day
Café Goa, Just love to sit and watch the cars and people go bye. (I'm simple at times) Eat and drink the morning away.
Out of Town Pastry & Charela's for Breakfast, Cosmo's for Dinner and Boat Bar for Red Stripe, White Sands for Happy Hour 2 fer Drink Specials, LTU Pub just because, taking a newbie to Xtabi caves, showing them Kaisers and reliving all the great shows I've seen there.
There have been many other places over the years but either the business is no longer there of we have lost the Proprietor to a higher calling. I sure do miss the days spent at all 3 of Mark's Bars, the 1st being attached to the wall seperating them and T-Water, then Mark's Hurricaine down the beach before moving out to Green Island. Cheap Bite near the Market, watching Bobby Dread sing on various stages. Mahogany Inn, Mavis & Sons for great fish. Spending the day on Bloody Bay before the Grand Lido/Beaches or whatever it is now. Pure Heaven
OK now I have to hookup another trip #20 something
I would strongly suggest going with a group of like minded people if it's at all possible. I used to think the same way as you, wondering what the big attraction was. So one day we took the trip to see for ourselves what it was all about.
Lets just say we won't be going back anytime soon. We were the only ones there at the time and it was not only boring but a little bit scary. Nothing bad happened to us or anything, it just seemed that for as much as we had heard about the place, it should have been a lot more fun. We stayed for a couple hours and nobody else showed up so we just left.
I'm sure there are a LOT of people on here that will disagree with me on this one, but as I said, we were the only ones there and I'm sure it would have been much better with a fun group of people. I'm not trying to discourage you from going but, I wish someone would have warned me of this before we went. Just sayin.
Very good point ..BIG SHINY n Mango ..
Enjoyed our tour of St Elizabeth farm country immensely. Saw Bamboo Alley, all the neat little spots you've heard off like Maggoty, Middle Quarters, etc.
Stopped at a real working farm, sampled fruit we've never had before, like Jackfruit.
Delicious fresh picked lettuce, went to Lover's Leap and had a spectacular view, were stopped by cows wandering over the road several times, beautiful farm communities, quiet, peaceful, and little traffic. Went to Appleton's and it was worthwhile; but oh so hot. They do put on a good lunch though.
Back through Black River, stopping at Treasure Beach and Jakes for refresh. Back to Negril at dark.
Don't want to see Gators. Don't want to go to 'bar' out in the water. Too old for that I guess.

Treasure Beach/Jake's ..very nice
Hungry Lion and Cosmo's every time since first time in 1984. Just Natural since it was Jus Natural.
60 Miles ... approx 2 hrs.
If you can "couple up " with some others ..
you can keep the cost of this day trip down .. (not a cheap day..but not too crazy)
It's a pretty quiet area .. but you can see/do alot to/from TB
YS Falls is VERY nice .. think a smaller Dunn's River ..(without an army of ants)...(cruise ship folks)
Lover's Leap/Appleton/Bamboo Alley ..even a stop @ the Tosh mausoleum ..as it's on the way ..
On the drive back ..make sure to grab some peppered shrimp..lot's to explore ... ENJOY
Attachment 31269Attachment 31270Attachment 31271Attachment 31269Attachment 31270Attachment 31271Have been to Treasure Beach twice. It is stunning. It is so laid back, we tried to stop at Jakes, found a parking lot, seen a tv and that was to much for me, and moved on. That was my vibe for the week. Fort Charles Beach, just down the road, is a beach that is 12 miles of sand, no houses, no people, lots of waves and breezes, with views and memories that will last a life time. Bring some liquids, a lunch and leave your suit at home. Sorry about my photo attachment skills. I am basically computer illiterate.
Niah's...

Not a place but an event ... do the Pub Crawl, you will not be disappointed!
Gonna second what Bigshiny said about Pelican Bar. I can see how it could get boring pretty quick if you weren't with the right people or of a certain mindset. It sure isn't for everyone. I personally loved it
I haven't been enough to have "must do's" although I will always stop by Connies C&D, and Catcha. I'm still just getting ideas from this board, of things I must check out on the next trip. Right now that list consists of:
Spending more time eating drinking diving and swimming @ Xtabi
Half moon or Booby Cay, or Office of Nature for lobster on the beach. Can anyone offer suggestions on which to choose and why?
Red Dragon for some jerk/cold stripes
Next trip I'm bringing Thing 1&2 so I think I might take them to Kool Runnings and probably the trampolines at margaritaville at some point
Half Moon is just nice peaceful setting. I believe Ty still cooks there and does a great job. He also got me addicted to Jamaican coffee...
Tizzy- I don't think I have seen the trampolines the last few times in Negril unless they take them in and out of the water depending on the bus tours.
We love riding our scooters to Little Bay for a day trip, stop in at a few places along the way for a beverage and food if possible. The road isn't great but scooters easily zip around the potholes.
limeex2, Fort Charles Beach looks incredible. It will go on my "things to do" list.
My best thing is just getting me a walking stick and walk barefoot from CoCo to Bloody Bay with stops along the way. Sometimes I wave the jet ski guy over and use him as a Taxi back to CoCo for a few bucks......Then I walk the other way the next time up into the cliffs and get a ride home on the back of a scooter.
