Great little video with Fr. Jim.
Very nice, thanks for posting. A wonderful man doing amazing work :)
One of the high lights last year was meeting this caring man in Negril. Look forward to spending some time with him and the ladies at the kitchen this coming April.
Wow! I have never seen this video. It was done at the University of Dayton last May at our Franciscan All-Province Assembly. Thanks for the kind words, Rasta Stan! Looking forward to seeing you again, mon! The Kitchen and Get Kids to School continue to thrive! And Sam I Am, thanks for posting the video. Don't think I have met you but hope to! --Fadder Jimaica aka Fr. Jim
No, we have not met yet. But I plan to stop by the church or st Anthony's soon!
I will be showing this to the People at the Diocese here in Kalamazoo. Great work.
Great video thanks for sharing! Looking forward to meeting in person
Really a blessed heartfelt video. Have only met him once, many years ago... but it was before I truly knew just how much he gives of himself to Negril, Jamaica and the world as a whole. What a wonderful man! Plan to stop by in December. Thanks for sharing this with all of us that love our fellow man...worldwide.
So what is the dominant religion there if Catholic is only 2% ?
Tell Fadda Jimaica - "Nice Video"! Helen and I will see him and St. Anthony's in about 2 months! Looking forward to that!
God Bless You Father J..............Looking forward to seeing you and the ladies at St. Anthony's in Feb...............Soon Come!!!.........................JK
This is per wikipedia, so take that into account.
According to the most recent census (2001), religious affiliation in Jamaica consists of 64% Christian (62% Protestant and 2% Roman Catholic), 2% Jehovah's Witnesses, 3% unstated, and 10% other.[1] The category other includes 24,020 Rastafarians, an estimated 5,000 Muslims, 1,453 Hindus, approximately 350 Jews and the census reported 21% who claimed no religious affiliation.
What a wonderful video. I met Fr Jim last April at the boardie meeting. He is such a lovely man and so caring. I hope to see him again this December - and Fr Jim, I have a few things for you.

64% Christian ? At the 2:13 mark he says the Catholic religion is small at 2% ? I'm confused.
Fred, Catholicism is a subset Christianity (as is Protestantism). So if (according to Wikipedia), Catholics make up 2% and Protestants make up 62%, then the total percentage of Christians on the island is 64%.
That's one thing I took away from 12 years of Catholic school (8 years of Sisters, 4 years of Brothers).
Hello- Colleen here- Which member is in Kalamazoo?
I live in Kalamazoo ---
Christians make up 64% of the population but many people are un-churched--claim no religion. In Negril, a town of maybe 2000 people (take away the tourists) I would bet there are 40 Christian churches; Apostolic, Pentecostal, Church of God, United, Anglican, Later Day Saints, Adventists, Roman Catholics, etc. The largest denomination in Jamaica are the Seventh Day Adventists and #2 is Church of God. remember that when the British came to Jamaica 350 years ago they threw the Spanish out--and the Catholics too. Henry VIII had done his thing and the Catholic Church was outlawed for many years. Speaking of religion. In Jamaica, in 2012 we celebrated the 500th anniversary of the establishment of Christianity on the Island. the first permanent churches were Roman Catholic and established by the Franciscan Friars who came over from Hispaniola! Why do I care? Because I am a Franciscan Friar! Big up Friars!
In the photo above did you notice I'm holding a Red Stripe (did you notice that, Fred Stripe)! One of the nice things about being Catholic is you can drink Red Stripe! --Fadder Jimaica
Loved the video Fadder Jimaica
Thanx for the explination. I'm into any religion that's O/K with Red Stripe,it's better than wine.
Greetings everyone!
GREAT video for sure :) BIG UP Fadder Jimaica for all his works!! Blessings to those who help make all these wonderful projects successful :)
We at the Kitchen look forward to seeing you again, and/or meeting you for the first time.... come on down!
Enjoy the day!
St. Anthony's Kitchen
I'll be coming by quite often in April to see the Ladies at the soup kitchen again. Great work being done by Fadder Jimaica in Negril. Bless Up.
Fr. Jim is a very special man on a mission. The love in his heart for the people of Jamaica is there for all to see. I keep saying I am going to video more of his Sunday sermons but once he begins to speak, I find myself so entranced that I forget about my camera until he is well along. :) Thank God for him in Negril.
I certainly don't mind al the compliments so thanks for them. The more important thing to remember, though, is that I (and we at the Kitchen and Church) cannot do much without the help of others--and there are many. Feeding people, sending kids to school and just about anything else we do costs money. There are hundreds of folks who support our mission and work here in Negril. Some have come from this FORUM. And volunteers are needed and they come--some of them are you. And my motivation for all of this is that I want to preach the Gospel by what I say and do. Big up to God--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--who is the source of it all! Well, then there is St. Anthony! The Kitchen isn't named after him by accident. His finger is in the pot too. Peace and all good to all of you and thanks to everyone who makes these good things happen! --Fadder Jimaica aka Fr. Jim
Respect and One Love to Fadder Jim, all the Volunteers and Those who support this Blessed Mission.
