Unlimited texting and data while in Jamaica!

T-Mobile has recently rolled out global usage in more than 100 countries with most of their current plans with no additional charges, and Jamaica is on the list! While in Jamaica, you'll be able to send and receive text messages within JA and back to the USA, as well as have basic data service (128k speeds) for no additional charge, no roaming fees, nothing! Calls within JA and back to the USA will run 20 cents per minute.

This might help some of those who want to have a cell phone while travelling but don't want to go to the hassle of unlocking their device and having to get a SIM card while there. You'll also be using your normal phone number, not a temporary Jamaican one.

Not only that, if you're not a T-Mobile customer, this is a great time to make the switch - no contracts, an ever-expanding 4G LTE network, and you'll save money over AT+T/Verizon, as much as $1000's over the typical 2 year term the others lock you in for.

I have T-Mobile SIM I use when I am travelling in the states. I'm on the $3 pay by the day plan. Would this global usage still apply?

Will have to look in to it. Can't get service from them where I live. Need to make calls on my way to town.

This plan does not work with the "Pay by the day" plans. You will need to be on a no-contract "Simple Choice" plan that gets you unlimited talk, text, and data within the USA starting at $50/ month for one line, (or $80 for 2, $90 for 3, $100 for 4 or $110 for 5 lines) then you also get the global services included for free.

Here's an idea - leave your phone at home for a week - take a 'screen' break and experience Negril without having to carry your device with you everywhere you go so you can check it every 2 minutes.

I have tmobile,so this is good news!

I love turning my regular phone off once I get on the plane and only using my digicel while in JA. When my JA phone rings it means something fun is about to happen or something important happened back home. By turning off my regular phone and only giving my digicel number to family and people in JA, it works as a form of screening calls... only the really important and fun calls get through to me :)

Kahuna, with elderly parents and youngsters wilder than I ever have been, I go nowhere without a phone. If I've got to go to a hospital, I prefer to be proactive--not inactive.

To each his/her own.
I check my e-mail daily when I'm in Negril, and Skype my kids (young adults) frequently in the evening from my room. But I will not carry a phone around when I'm there. I walk the beach wearing sunglasses, shorts, a hat and some J$ stuffed in my pocket - no electronic leash - it enhances that delicious feeling of being being free and unfettered. If I want a swim, I just turn right, or left and walk into the water, no worries - all of the bars on the beach accept wet money.

I'm the other side of the coin.

Being able to have internet and cell phone has made my return and rebuilding of the yard possible.

I can't imagine being able to do what we've done so far with out them.
