Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
Been to Negril several times, Be first time out of AI and be first time cliff dwellers this trip. This is our list of important things in a place to stay so help me narrow down the choices I have made so far. If you have somewhere perfect that is not on the list mention that too. Looking to stay no more than $100-150 per nite....less is better more $$ for other stuff and adventures....
This will be a Mid March 2014 trip....
FIRST: View of the sea from our room/balcony/patio 2. Access to the sea 4. Safe and clean 5. A little romance! (25 wedding anniv) 6. Central to restaurants/supplies, etc.
Staying 4 nights cliffs 4 on 7 mile.
For Cliffs: Moonlight Villas ~ Sunset on the Cliffs ~ Blue Cave Castle(lower tower) ~ Negril Escape (back to Africa avail and Atlantis)
For Beach: Kuyaba ~ Country Country ~ Gatehouse Villas ~ Rooms ~ Tree House ~ Sea Wind....maybe even Nirvana or Firefly....
So many choices!!!
Which....what to do??? Please help, give advice and post photos of these places so I can make up my darn mind!!:confused:
Thank you all in advance!!
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
Blue Cave Castle hands down... and the lower tower is perfect! For pics- check our Cherry's Trip report- she describes it perfectly!
Access to sea- check
view of sea- check
safe and clean- check
romance... thats up to you! (but check) We had our honeymoon here
central to rest/stores- check
Tip- do the beach stay first (while you have energy) then move to cliffs (for optimal relaxation)...
Have fun!
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
You have to check out CoCo La Palm. Its a great beach area. Hot tub, pools, and every Friday night,
they serve dinner on the beach, with a live band. Its great !!! Two for one happy hour every night as well.
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
Great advise Murph............ do the beach party thing first then go to the cliffs .......... RELAX on the Cliffs
Agree with jojo p ............. hard to beat CoCo for your first stay on the beach
For many years it was Coco La Palm for 7 to 10 days then Rockhouse to unwind and rest up for a few days.
Enjoy ! ! !
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
Nirvana has the best beach and location of the hotels mentioned, I would also check out Charela or Coco La Palm. We stayed at Moonlight Villa for one night last year before heading to the beach. We liked how charming it was and soooo close to the water. You have to be a dog lover because the owner has many dogs. The bedding was also a little scratchy, would stay again but bring my own sheets. LOL If you stay at BCC or Moonlight, be sure to eat Tony's jerk across the street. A little grill set up next to No Limit bar.
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
For your 25th anniversary, I would exclude Sunset on the cliffs and Negril Escape from the list. They are budget places - and are fine for what they are - but you'll probably want some nicer amenities for this special occasion. I would take a look at Home Sweet Home, which was recently renovated and in your price range. HSH is in the same neighborhood as BCC and Moonlight Villa. They have a great restaurant & bar, a nice pool/hot tub and excellent cliff access.
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
I totally aggree with Murph on the Blue Cave Castle. As far as the beach.........Kuyaba can be quite loud late into the night due to Burbon Beach next door.
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
Mike D...HSH is $249 per nite!! Way over the other places I am considering. The beach is usually our relax time and the last thing I think I want to experience. That's why its last. We have always went high end at Couples before....we love the sand tween our toes!! I am thinking BCC or Moonlight Villa.
Is the beach really that much of a party and the cliffs that much of a rest????

Have you checked out Catcha Falling Star?
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
Muck....I would love to stay at Catcha....no room in the inn with a sea view. Only the Gatehouse and the one room without a patio :-(
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
I wouldn't say that the beach is a party. We have some pretty chill days and nights there. I would say that it's alive, but not wild and crazy. Some parts of the beach have a different vibe than others imho.

I didn't see your travel dates, but I'm guessing it is during peak season.
Well, Negril One Stop has the Seaview Deluxe rooms with a king-size bed for $199 during the winter (smaller bed is $189). Still, that is more than I have ever paid at HSH - or would pay for the Seaview deluxe rooms. HSH just had a November special where those same rooms were going for $75. The new owners did the same thing last year where they jacked-up the on-line pricing for the winter season. I would contact them directly and see if they can offer you a better rate. They will most likely be offering deep discounts as a "Last Minute Special", as the peak season approaches and they have unsold rooms.
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
I would definitely recommend Charela if you can get one of the oceanfront rooms. It looks like $200/night mid-March, but worth the $ if you can swing it. It's in the middle of everything, but feels really quiet and private if you want it to be. I wouldn't choose it if there are only garden rooms available, since they're nice but nothing special.
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
I have stayed in the gatehouse at catcha and loved it!!
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
If you want a laid back atmosphere Moonlight Villas cannot be beat. Have stayed there numerous times. No onsite bar or restaurant but the ocean is at your door step. Large clean rooms with fridge and coffeemaker. Several bars and restaurants only steps away. You must like dogs as there are 5 on the property.
Re: Almost Ready to PUSH THE BUTTON!! Need Advice
