Has anyone ever arrived in Negril and liked it so much that they moved in for good?
I know I've been tempted every time .....

That's part of the 10 year plan, though I am not entirely sure Negril is where I would end up. Not too far however.

First time I visited Negril I was living in Kingston but I knew I wanted to have a place in the hills close by.

some friends leased a place together by the year (second year) --- the monthly amount they pay is less than what a nice hotel would cost for 2 weeks --- this way they can come as much as they want --- they've done some decorating and the place is real homey

Although I am sure that he did not just "pick up and leave" without some planning. Rob did

On a more serious note....If you notice most of us who made a life there do not live in Negril. Close by but not in town.
Most of the folks who work in Negril don't live there either.
Draw a crescent of about 10 miles from the roundabout and go out there and look around.
I love Negril being close by but it's always nice to get home in Spring Garden, Sheffield, Orange Bay, Silver Spring, Mt. Airy.....etc

I think there's around 5500 residents in Negril...Rob can correct me if I'm wrong. I loved living in Negril & love living just outside Negril...pretty much the same for me...

Is there a huge price difference? We are pretty serious about our plans. :D

Re: Has anyone ever arrived in Negril and liked it so much that they moved in for goo
I will be 'living' in the town of Negril for 97 days this winter - my longest stretch yet.
Having done many trips to Negril and spent a lot of time there over the years, I am really looking forward to it but I do have a pragmatic POV. As it is with all places, the Negril experience is different for each individual. I am at a point in my life where I could pack up and move to Negril next week, if I wanted to. But honestly I'm not sure if I want to and frankly I'm not sure that Negril would have me.
So, all things considered, will ninety-seven days be long enough for me to answer the question; 'Would I want to live in Negril?'
I'll share some of my experiences and thoughts over the coming 3 months.

Kahuna3, I will be anxious to hear how your extended stay works out. My wife and I plan on wintering in Negril when we retire.

I have family that moved Mandeville and an aunt to Montego bay. They love it. They're so lucky. Hopefully within 10 years, I can do the same.

Yes, but not immediately, and not in one decisive 'move' but progressively more time over a couple years. The convenience of living in Negril has been perfect for me.

I get asked about moving there all the time, may have some thing to do with the frequent trips? The longest I have stayed is 2 weeks so how would I know if I would want to live there. I am thinking its totally different living than touristing. Its a few years away until I get an extended stay, I will go from there.
Hey Flip make sure you get a place with an extra room, for guests,:)
