Renewed our vows on the beach for our 30th Anniversary,it was awesome!!
I got down on my knee and proposed in Presley's.
We had the place to ourselves that night.
The lights were down low.
Presley was very accomodating.
The other romantic stuff was not Jamaica dependent *ahem*
I surprised my wife with the 100 candles dinner at Ivan's last year. Very romantic.
Married my Empress at the Blue Cave Castle. We reserved the whole property for a week so we were king and queen!
I booked a trip to Negril for 13 days, she knew we were staying at CouplesSwept Away but what I didn't tell my wife was that I lined up Catcha Falling Star (in the Sagittarius Cottage) for our first night, booked Rocky (from Rocky's Taxi & Tours) to pick us up at the airport and I set up the 100 Candle dinner. When Rocky got us she was blown away, she thought we were on the bus, then as we drove past Swept Away she started asking a ton of questions. I didn't say a word, then when we got to Catcha Mauvette met us out front and led us to Sagi. She had a permanent grin on her face and all she could say was "after30 years of marriage you still can surprise me" . Once the 100 candle dinner hit that's when tears started flowing. Needless to say I had a wonderful evening with her surprises for me!
What is a "hundred Candle dinner"???
Please?
I love these! Keep them coming! Just want to make this trip extra special after a very hard year of several losses in our family.
Rumpolephoreskin - We, too, got engaged in JA, but at Rockhouse on the "island table".
Reggae and Tanfastic - Looking at 100 candle dinner. Just got a quote from Ivan's, and their corking fee (self described wine snob).
Tanfastic - LOVE Catcha. SOOOO romantic. We are at Banana Shout this trip - coming soooo soon!
Ras Walleye - We were married at BCC as well!!! However, I did not get the place rented out for just us - wow! You are quite the romantic!
BillandDonna - Will do that some day, but just not this year. Need a "milestone" year!
:-)
we got married in Belmont on the south coast 5 years ago, but had our had our honeymoon 2 days later in Negril, soon come
We brought our kids to Negril in March for our 30th anniversary. It was their first time to the island. I know it doesn't sound romantic, but my wife thought so because it was all my idea to bring them!
Fifteen years ago this feb the 3rd my wife and I were married down at jakes!it was awesome and we will be back on the rock to celebrate! West end ,best end, soon come
Holding hands looking into each others eyes as the waves hit our feet as the live band on the beach as we whine our hips to the beat...:o
It wasn't an engagement or anniversary but heck it was Romantic! lol
I found this old post of mine, I think it still holds true -
Negril is one of the most romantic places on earth, you can hardly take a step without encountering another romantic possibility. Here are a few of mine -
Sunrise coffee on the pier at German Bar
Sunrise coffee on the sofas at Canoe, looking at the pier at German Bar
Long walks on the beach
Long walks on West End Road
Sunset at Sir D's
Roaming the grounds at the Westender
Finding a secret spot in the cliffs and making it yours (there are many, I can give you a few if you like)
Swimming in Josephs Cave
The Rock Table at Rockhouse for dinner
Exploring the caves at Xtabi
Getting a room with a private verandah
Getting a room with an outdoor shower
Eating a fresh soursop together and cleaning each other up
Packing some fruit in a knapsack when you venture out so you can take advantage of that "Perfect Picnic Spot" you just stumbled across
chaise lounges at the cliffs edge late at night
Sunset and the night of 100 candles at Ivans
For trips I would recommend Percy's Riverside Retreat, Mayfield Falls, YS Falls, Pelican Bar and Half Moon Beach
I would now also add Lovers Leap to the road trip list, it is breathtaking.
Have a great time and love it up!!
We were at the Riu Prop, Three floor walk ups....We had the 3rd floor in the way back,,,,balcony facing the foliage by the fence....Didn't like it at first but,hey walk up the steps is exercise and the balcony was very private....On the balcony at dusk....drinks and smokes & quiet...Then,,,the 3 piece group from the beach walks under us.....They play just for us as we throw them money and more money...They play us private songs.....Magical...
Ras Walleye,
Thanks for the definition and the idea.
I think I'll spring that on Mrs. Peel this trip.
I like to keep her on her toes.
Any idea how much advance warning Ivan's needs to pull this off?
Thanks in advance!
Thats easy. Almost 6 years ago I took my girlfriend to Negril, it was her first time in Jamaica. We were staying at country country enjoying the numerours bonfires as it was new years eve. Shortly after the fireworks started going off indicating the new year I took her by the hand and walked her knee deep into the sea. It was there I proposed to her and we have lived happily ever after ever since.
Its kind of funny as when we were clearing the security at the Saskatoon airport the guy came that close to pulling out the engagement ring from its hiding spot in my carry on. I literally reached and grabbed his hand as be was doing his search as my girlfriend was right there.
Going with our 19 and 22 y/o girls in January, partially to celebrate our 25th Anniversary which is in December. Arranged for a nice table at Ivan's with flowers for the four of us since they only do the 100 candle deal for two.
Any other suggestions?
Would even consider a vow renewal if it's not real expensive and/or too cheesy.
Walked hand and hand along a black sand deserted beach. Pealed off the suites, and made love in the surf. ( a small crab was watching) LOL hope you have the opportunity to do the same, It was like I was in a book. I'm a reader, and a hopeless romantic.
OOPS not in Negril
Way to go Jim-Donna, we have too! (It was in Negril though :) )
Outdoor shower with some reggae lovers playing softly in the background late late night with the moon shining in.....
started with a couple of Lobsters that Tayon cooked for us and while eating we watched sunset from the cliffs at Heartbeat, lounging on air mats we watched sunset and listned to the far away sounds of reggae..drifting from the beach on warm winds...saw moon rise, and set.......fell asleep in each others arms..awoke to a puppy licking our faces.....stayed until the sun was "firmly up" :)...completed the morning awaking routine with a outdoor shower for two..and then onward.....
