Bitter cold, deep snow hit parts of North Dakota

BISMARCK — Dangerous cold blanketed northwestern North Dakota on the heels of heavy snowfall in some areas.


The National Weather Service on Thursday morning issued an advisory for wind chills in the region as low as 30 degrees below zero.


Weather Service reports show that a system that crossed the state on Wednesday dropped as much as 6 ½ inches of snow in some areas. The state Transportation Department issued a travel alert for the northwest and north central parts of the state because of poor driving conditions.


The Dickinson Press reports that the Highway Patrol closed a portion of state Highway 22 north of Killdeer on Wednesday because semitrailers in the oil patch were having problems navigating the hills in the Killdeer Mountains.

i hear ya , it aint easy , FEB. 1st for us and we have snow coming in this weekend, believe me as i have been sitting in a cold damp swamp for the last week looking for a deer iv been trying to stay warm with thts of Negril lol

As soon as I seen this forecast I finished booking for Feb. 1st time to Negril and it can't come soon enough!

I hear ya!! Try being 450 miles north of Bismarck........79 days.......tonight it is -29 C feels like -37C with the wind chill, don't remember what the conversion is but -40C is -40F soon come Feb.

That's life in the upper midwest. Can totally sympathize. Just keep looking ahead to the trip!

omg feb is so far away, the wind is blowing about 30 mph the wind chill is bout 6 below and its a white out right now, i skipped out going to the deer blind this morn, stepped out on the porch only too almost get knocked down from the wind and cold, lol went back inside and went back to bed lol

Dash lol ya dry cold alright! Takes your breath away its so cold. Early this year just for grey cup...... may have to get the winter coat and boots out if it gets colder. May as well get used to it .......six more months. and that's why prairie people need winter vacations
