i buy one when i get there , put 1000 min. talk all month almost, phone is around 30 bucks,
And how much for minutes to call over seas?? Thanks!!
when i call the us it's like .20 cent's a minute,give or take a little, not more than .30 cent's
You can buy unlimited long distance from digicel for $J1000 that last 30 days. But even using the regular minutes is reasonable if your not going to be making a lot of calls. Also, many drivers will loan you a phone for your stay when you book round trip airport transfer. Then all you have to do is buy minutes.
Very reasonable! Iam gonna go with buying a phone.. We are using Kingsley for most of our transfers but after he takes us to port Antonio we won't see him till next reach.. Thanks for the help! Respect
I will check it out thanks limo
Limo man, how did you handle your local calls?
Ahh good question
Lime is cheaper to buy & minutes are cheaper. Calling US or Canada is only 3 cents a minute. No need for most people to buy international minutes.
I got a sale in November but paid about $11 for phone, SIM and $100j in minutes.
Nice are they as common as the other?? Haven't been to JA but seen digi cel signs everywhere!!
hey dude.....
what melody said...
my friend Rinakim bought lime phone, minutes, and all for about 20.oo, I think....maybe she will pop in...at the megamart in mobay after you land....kingsley will help...he would loan or rent u a phone if you were using him back to the airport, but he will help set u up....his wife usually does the emails, and she is very helpful...
and yes, lime is the new carrier in jamaica, but lots of folks using lime...very popular...
Actually Lime is not new. It is just a rebranding of Cable & Wireless. But they seem to have stepped up their game to compete with Digicel.
541lion what type of local Ja calls do you need to make ?? Most places we go someone knows the Limo Mon and they say here use my phone No problem Mon! Only place I payed someone was when I arrive at MoBay we go to the Groovy bar (outside airport) tip A local to make call to my driva once in Negril No Problem Mon !. This past trip the local had my driva's number already and I bought him a red stripe .
We found that the best place was Lime in Mobay or there is one in Negril as well and paid 30.00 for a Nokia phone and 1100 min of talk time which is great deal and don't have to worry about your everyday phone and extra charges or losing it!
Local calls I would make would be to drivers and also a few places to stay in port Antonio
use Jamaican cellies and forget about using your North American cellies cause dem expensive.......
Jamaicans would prefer you have a Digicel cellie cause the Lime cellies burn up their credits......and vice versus......
if mi around, mi always have an extra cellie available if someone needed one to use.......
you can usually find mi around No Limit Bar or L&M Market on da cliffs across from Pee Wees......
Lime just started this week a new promo...it's a good deal
get 27 minutes free when you talk 3 mintues on Talk XL to local Lime cellies....
so sign up for dat when you get a Lime cellie.......
and like the boardie mentioned you can't make cheaper calls to N America than on a Lime cellie.......
but most Jamaicans etc have Digicel.....they have the foothold in the market......
Cool Runnings, Marko
Yep magic jack app is awesome!
All my calls this past trip went fine had a little delay with the connection when you first begin the call but every call we made back to the US was loud and clear on both ends. Even was getting incoming calls that went fine. Places we called from Mi Yard , Sunset After Dark, B-Barn and the Palms. Just need good Wi-Fi connection. Marko it was FREE FREE FREE.
