Unhappy carrying on alcohol from duty free with connecting us flight?!?

The Transportation Safety Administration's 3-1-1 rule has been relaxed just a little bit starting Jan 2014 for people coming to the United States from abroad. Travelers who buy alcohol or other liquids at those duty-free airport shops abroad can bring them into the United States on an international flight and carry them onto a connecting flight.

This slight relaxing of the TSA's 3-1-1 rule affects only some people returning home to the United States from other countries.

so has anyone recently returned and had no troubles carrying alcohol onto their connecting flight?

TSA now allows the use of Secure Tamper Evident Bags, or STEB, for transport of liquids of larger volumes. As of two weeks ago, I'm told that these are not yet available at MBJ. So for now, the same old tired routine is required and necessary.

Just got back and had our rum and stuff taken in Mobay at departure. Bought some more at the Duty free in the airport and then had it taken upon arrival in Atlanta. 4 bottles of good stuff for the TSA party???

Just returned and because the lady didn't wrap our duty free liquor properly in the box and tape it up they wouldn't let us take it thru customs in Miami, however the nice people with American airlines had an extra box so they taped it and checked it for us at no extra cost! Make sure wherever you are purchasing duty free they put it inside the box with the tape around it or it won't make it home with you!

Once you go through customs, you have to put it in your checked bag, otherwise TSA will confiscate it when you go back through security.
