I found a nice likkle spot, 1/2 way between the road and the beach.
There is this lane.
Half way to the beach there is an entrance.
There was this "lady" standing in the lane.
"Hello" she says.
"Hi , I say.
She held out her hand and we shook hands.
She would not let go of mine.
She talked and asked the usual questions,
where your from?
been here before?, where you staying?
Still, she did not let go.
I sorta/kinda/....1/2 way answered her questions.
I don't like to divulge too much info to strangers.
Like one time I told someone I was from Evansville, Illinois.
?????????? was their expression.
So, anyway, the lady asked me if I had been to the likkle lounge spot.
Where, I said??
Right down this path, come......
So, we walked down a little path.
There were the tiniest kittens you ever saw just hanging around.
Another lady was playing with one that was light brown and dark brown.
A few more steps and things opened up.
It was as if I stepped back in time.
There was a Bar, tables and chairs and board houses.
All wood, not a piece of metal or steel anywhere.
The area was surrounded with plants and trees.
Hmmm, this place is a little scary I thought. Kind of claustrophobic.
You ever see those trees that grow up, then hang down low, cutting off the wind and breeze?
If you walk by and bump into a branch and don't see it,
it feels like a skeleton hand grabbing your neck,
It was like that.
But, maybe it was just me, being a first time guest there.
There were other ladies and gents, sitting around enjoying the evening.
Come...the lady said, so, I followed her.
All eyes were on me.
Hmmm, they must think I am a lamb, being led to the slaughter.
or
a customer about to sample her wares.
So, we walked a bit more and there were these board houses and rooms set up in the back,
a little ways from the bar area.
Ohhhhh....Ok, I said to myself, never knew all this was back here.
After looking around, I saw one guy, in front of a room sitting outside in a chair
Hey.....I saw him earlier on the beach, but he was motionless.....immobile.
Wow, he looks like he has a snoot full!
I had seen enough, I turned and walked back to the bar area.
There were guys just sitting around,
smoke everywhere,
bottles of booze on the tables.
A NO FRILLS KINDA PLACE, if you know what I mean.
Man, this would be a nice hide-out, if I wasn't so scared to be there.
I said my adues/good byes and skedaddled back to the road.
All kinds of places off the beaten path, if you know where to look.
