    Tourist ?s

We are making our first trip to Negril next week and have a couple questions. First, is the Saturday market in Savann-la-mar a good tourist spot for local goods/souvenirs and where is the local craft market in negril?
Also is Mayfield Falls worth the trip?

There is a Negril Craft Market along the river, right before you get to the bridge.
Many little shops selling carvings and art work.

Time Square Shopping Mall is in town.
There are a lot of gift shops specifically designed for Tourist.

Sav-La-Mar, Is a small town with local shops and vendors selling Vegetables .
Not a place for Tourist Souvenirs, unless I missed the place.

Others will chime in to assist you. Enjoy !!

The Saturday market in Sav la Mar is intended for local Jamaicans to purchase any day-to-day items they may need. However, some tourists do like to visit the market to experience the culture and maybe pick-up things like spices to bring home. You probably won't find any souvenirs there. For that, you will want to visit the craft market that Markospoon mentioned. In addition, you can simply walk along the beach and visit the various craft stalls along the way.

Enjoy your first trip! You will have an irie time.

Attachment 49047. You will find lots of local foods and provisions at great prices at the market in Sav. And because Sav is not a tourist destination you will find good prices on just about anything else you are looking for.

However, you will also find good prices on local crafts at the craft market in Negril

Mayfield Falls is a great experience. It's not as developed as Dunns River Falls and YS Falls so there will not be crowds of people. It's a more personalized experience.

As the rest have said, Sav is not a tourist market, but in my opinion that is what makes it so great. It is worth the trip there just to experience the day to day commerce of Jamaicans. Saturday is a good day, but we usually go on Friday because that is when the EasiSpice store is open across the street. Early is better than later, 8 or 9 AM at the latest if you want to see the most activity.
Mayfield Falls is a great day trip from Negril.

Besides the craft market near the bridge in Negril, there is another one across from Hedonism and the new Royalton resort.

Looks like nice meat cleavers near the bottom of rjonsun's pics. One is $1000 and the other $1200, May have to hunt that shop down sometime.

I enjoyed Mayfield Falls, was a great 1/2 day trip! You climb along the banks and within the stream itself. I think it was $17 to get in and then a tip for the guide at the end. This was back in Nov 2015 though. YMMV

If you go to Bloody Bay, there's a bunch of craft booths just past Riu Tropical Palace.
