If you book travel, hotels, air, etc. using Expedia using your tablet, laptop or desktop, be sure to double check the rate using your smartphone. For some bookings, Expedia offers a mobile only discount without notifying the desktop/ laptop/ tablet or the smartphone users of such discount.
No real idea why they are doing it, especially without notification, but they are....
The discount does not require using their mobile app, just using a smartphone triggers the discount if available.

We booked our hotel through expedia about a month ago and stumbled upon that. We saved about 5% using our phones, and acctually recieved a refundable rate that we didnt have from the laptop. Every little bit helps!
We use the Rakuten Chrome browser extension which gives cash rebates over and above what prices or discounts you get on various websites. Rakuten runs in the background and will pop up a small window on any site that they have rebates for. This includes not only many travel sites but also Sears, JC Penny, Lowes, eBay, etc.....
For example we got a 9% cash rebate on a trip we just planned to Key West. The hotel was the same price across all the various booking sites so we booked with the site that Rakuten gave the biggest rebate (Priceline). Same process for our April trip to Negril. We got a 5% cash rebate from Booking.com. If you use Trivago to do you initial search for rooms, they will generate a list of all booking sites and you can chose the one with the best deal. Some times there can be a better deal at one or the other sites. Many times the price per room is within a dollar or two of each other so then the Rakuten cash rebates can change who you book through.
