They don't know that anyone had it, but there was reason to believe a crewmember might. I think the ship proceeded to Grand Cayman after that...

Cayman did not allow them to disembark either but it is still there. It is scheduled to go to Mexico next. This is not a good situation for the 6000 people on the cruise ship since we have seen that cruise ships cannot effectively quarantine people. However countries like Jamaica and Cayman lack the resources to handle it, and in any case they are just following their country's established policies regarding infectious diseases and immigration.
We have a cruise booked for May. This is not looking good.
Re: Cruise in May: At this moment most cruise lines are cancelling their cruises in Asia. If you model the spread of coronavirus around the world, it looks like it will reach the western hemisphere soon. You can draw your own conclusions,
I feel bad for the passengers onboard but I think Jamaica and Grand Cayman made the right call. Let's hope the vaccine tests well.
As long as they have food, drink and internet it's just a cruise to nowhere.
