If it were me, I'd ask them for specific reference to why they think they don't need to return the fees if they cancel the flight. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, they have to, and I see nothing from the government saying otherwise.

Of course, if you rebook, or accept whatever changes they propose, then that's that. But any time your airline cancels your flight and offers you a schedule change as a result, you should first look to see what tickets are selling for right now, then decide whether to have them refund your ticket and fees then independently rebook online, or just accept what they're offering. Not surprisingly, no airline will tell you about this.

We have cancelled three different trips with southwest including to Wisconsin tomorrow March 24th, to Negril trip April 16, and to Wisconsin again in late May and all points and fees refunded.

I received a refund from Southwest for my 4/18 flight and the early bird. I explained that they cancelled the flight not me and received all my money back. Didn't want the credit because you just never know.

I finally got Early bird fees refunded, I had to note that the DOT says they have to refund all fees if they cancel. I called at 6 am yesterday morning. They argued that they changed their policy. It was not pleasant. I'd rather be in Jamaica today.

Greeting to you all and hoping that everybody is doing well!! Just for clarification it is my understanding that any flights that are cancelled anywhere in the world the ticket holder is entitled to a full refund. No BS from the airline. travel agent, or online seller. You can't eat a credit or voucher for future travel. I was due to fly to the Czech Republic at the end of April and Lufthansa cancelled the flights. The tickets were purchased on Ovago and Lufthansa said that since the contract to fly was breached I was entitled to a full refund but had to chase Ovago for the refund. Ovago e-mailed some bull**** excuse and blamed Lufthansa and that I wouldn't get a full refund because of more BS. Long story short I called Visa and told them the situation and within 12 hours I was credited in full. I don't want to pine about money at this point in time but I wanted to let you all know your rights and not to believe the MF'ers who are trying to rip you off in this time of crisis!!

Hello All , I hope this finds everyone well. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Delta today. We were supposed to be flying to Alaska for a cruise in May. Delta just changed their policy to use your credits was expanded till 2 yrs. Maybe Southwest will follow suit. We booked for November. The rep told me she had been booking flights all day for November. I know one thing the flights were definately more expensive. At least I didnt have to spend any $$ today and had credits left over.
