We were lucky enough to be at the Indies 957 Bar when the first White Sands visitor checked in. He and his ex-wife have been reading Negril.com for years and he was traveling alone for the first time to Negril.
It was great to see that beaming smile once again as he discussed the joys of being back in Negril. He had been chatting with his son all day back in the States and said it seemed like he had the entire beach to himself!
We asked about the time it took at Sangster Airport and he said that from landing to being greeted by Rocky outside the departure doors was an hour and half. He said it nothing that hadn't already been explained here on Negril.com, and everything was smooth. He was very impressed by the JDF, they were friendly and welcoming and to his surprise, not armed. He likened them to peace keepers who helped with keeping the lines moving steady.
He was asked to try and remain on the property until his COVID testing results came back of which he would be notified. He was not told to quarantine, just a simple suggestion to remain on the property.
As we were talking, it seemed that a "who's who" of Negril descended on the bar, with business owners greeting each other like long lost friends. The new visitor met them all and was soaking in all the festivities.
Negril felt like Negril for the first time in months. It was a wonderful chance meeting with a very happy visitor from California!
