How long to arrive before flight?

We made it home to Indianapolis through Miami with no issues (other than a 5.5 hr. layover). Even traffic was light from Negril to the airport on a Saturday at 7am - 8:00am-ish - We flew American Airlines. Others were not so lucky. The line in the Miami airport for reschedules was well over 100 yards. Southwest seemed to have had the most cancellations but there were lots of delays with all airlines. We stayed at Charella btw and it was wonderful as always. Sad to see that the lady owner of Ossies passed away due to kidney failure. Alan at The Treehouse is no longer cooking his jerk lunch there but has set up in a small space next door.
Weather was great except for 1 rainy afternnon. Ocean was calm throughout stay.
