    Summer bonus trip…a trip report

Arrived 7/1 for a “bonus” week in Negril…a belated birthday celebration for my hubby’s 60th birthday. Thank goodness we had Club Mobay arrival/departure service. Sometimes you zoom through the airport wondering why you paid for it and then sometimes you’re so freaking happy you booked it as you pass hundreds of weary travelers backed up the ramp. This time was the latter. We got through immigration quickly and made it to the luggage claim. Waited for 45 minutes…no luggage. Only 1 luggage carousel open with 4 incoming planes. No airport workers available to unload bags. 3 Club Mobay hostesses ended up taking all bags off of carousel to allow our flights luggage to be placed on carousel! Stopped in the lounge for a drink to go & we were out of the airport. Finally the excitement of being in Jamaica sets in as we are leaving the airport!
We were welcomed “home” by the staff at Charela. Grabbed a late lunch there and off to Rondel!
It had been 13 years since we visited Jamaica in the summer, as we normally visit in December. The weather was warm & humid at times, but not even close to the weather we’ve been experiencing on the coast of South Carolina! It was sunny in the mornings with showers in the afternoon. The beach was beautiful! Not many people on the beach…vendors or tourists.
Sand gravity started to take hold of us, but we fought it and went up to the cliffs twice for dinner (Ivan’s & 3 Dives) and one morning for breakfast at Xtabi plus some beach restaurants- Alfred’s for breakfast, Kuyaba & Chance’s for dinner. We had patties & sweets from Anthony and fresh fruits from Serge & Miss Cortis. Happy hours were spent with Delroy at Rondel!
We had a great vacation…lots of relaxing, laughing, swimming, and spending time with our dear Jamaican friends! The week flew by quickly. We weren’t too sad to leave, as we are booked to return in December!
If you’re thinking of going…JUST DO IT! As Rambo used to say “book, pack, & go!”

Thank you so much for posting the trip report! So glad you had a great trip. We’ve only been once in July and I agree hot but so much cooler than home. That sand does get a little too hot to stand on barefoot and I did have a bit of a problem with a baby jellyfish in the swimsuit but would definitely visit in July again! Your pictures are beautiful, thanks again!!

Thanks Rumlover! The best part of visiting in July is it’s still mango season!
