    Grand Pineapple

Has anyone heard any new information as to when Grand Pineapple may reopen or if it never will?

Nothing certain yet except they are not open and not accepting new reservations. Their website is a single page offering no new information.

There are rumors about it being in negotiations, which is not much of a stretch of imagination. Owners generally don't like beach front properties to sit idle making no money at all. They still have to pay property taxes as well as general update, maintenance and security.

I would imagine we should hear something before the next busy season (November).

Currently it is being used as a Hostel for the Sandals and Beaches employees so they can avoid the long travel to and from their various homes. We are very sad that it has not re-opened. It was one of our favorite places, and loved the staff there.

I'm glad to read the property is being used constructively. Hopefully it is a great help to the workers. The last thing the south end of the beach needs is another vacant property. I hope to see a renaissance of that stretch of the beach. It really was special back in the day.

yep..we have heard that either Sandals wants to sell it or change it from a budget AI to a boutiqe a la carte. But at this point nothing has been decided. That's from someone pretty well connected..so we shall see..in the meantime it is being used..
