Stayed last Feb. Room and location nice. Food and bar just OK. But lots on the beach close like Sunnyside bar.. Alfred's. I just got back from Treehouse and prefer it there. Some good deals available.

    Re: Rooms on the Beach

We stayed at rooms for a week in early December last year. It was our first trip to Negril and we ended up their with Westjet Vacations. We thought it was good value. Nice big rooms, comfie king beds (terrible pillows), good AC and the bathrooms seem to have all been renovated relatively recently. You do trade a bit of character for the up-to-date amenities. Everything was really clean. Nice beach, lots of chairs and enough shade to go around.

The location is great if you are into the nightlife - the Jungle, Roots and Alfreds are all an easy walk/stumble away. The flip side to this is if you want quiet at night, this is probably not a good choice. At that time of year, the restaurant on site was closed and the bar shutdown basically at sunset. There were so many options close by that this didn't really bother us. Big ups to Sunnyside!

The hustle on the beach was thick. I don't know this for fact, but we were told that for those plying their trade on the beach, one of the last places they could get through from the road to start heading north was near Rooms. That meant a higher than average concentration of folks looking for your attention at all times of day and night. Our experience supported this. There is a wall on the beach that creates a nice 'hustle free' zone behind it, so if you wanted to be left alone, it was easily done. Security was also really on top of things.

Would I stay there again? Absolutely, though I have to admit now that we have had a chance to get to know Negril, there are many places we will try before we find ourselves back there.

We've stayed there the last 4 years, and going back next Feb. For the price, you cant beat it. The location is nice, and its close to restaurants, vendors, downtown. The rooms are nice, and clean. I love the walk-in showers, king beds and flat screen TVs. Its a fun place, lots of activity, especially in Feb.
If we are looking for a quieter vacation, we go to Treehouse, or Country Country, both great choices.
We've stayed at quite a few places in Negril, and they each have their own vibe. It depends what kind of vacation, and what time of year. We find that "off season" we prefer all inclusives.

Stayed there last Feb and booked again for Feb coming up. Also been there when it was called The Negril Inn. Was more action in the old format but still a nice place recently updated. Bar and kitchen do close down early but there are lots of choices around. Staff is great and accommodating. On the best chunk of beach on the whole strip. As far as the beach sellers go, the way to deal with them is to get to know their names and speak to them as equals, which is what they are. They quickly find out you are/are not a customer and will not waste too much of their time with you, unless you engage them in conversation, (that's what Negril is all about), as their time is money. It is quite a turnaround when you can call a seller buy name, and they are trying to get away from you as they know you are not buying and don't want you cutting into their selling time. Lol.
If you are worried about something, do something about it. If there is nothing you can do, why worry!
