Nice article in today’s Jamaican Observer about the most recent school projects undertaken by the Rockhouse Foundation (affiliated with the Rockhouse Resort in Negril). In the past 9 years, the Foundation has spent $1.5 million USD in Jamaica mostly in the Negril area. Their biggest projects involve the Negril All Age and Negril Basic School as well as the Negril library; the Little Bay All Age and Infant Schools and the Bunch of Stars Basic school in Old Hope. They have also been involved with projects in the inner city community of Trench Town in Kingston.

If you get a chance to visit the Negril Library (on the west end road not far from downtown), you will be impressed (air conditioned, fully functional computer lab, childrens library area, study/meeting room, etc). They gratefully accept donations of used books (both fictional and non-fictional for all ages) and school supplies.
