    Traveling to Cuba

Any advice on traveling to Cuba from Jamaica? I'm curious what the cost might be as well as anyone's experience there. Thanks.

I am very interested in this subject as well. Not sure how much info you will find here, but feel free to PM me if you ever find out anything interesting down the road.

Only thing i have heard about that is if you live in the USA and Cuba stamps your passport you are screwed when you get back in the states.

They do not stamp your passport. And really, from what I can tell, there isn't much to worry about. If caught, they CAN issue you a fine, but if you appeal this fine, the Government has never once pursued these cases, since the law is almost certainly unconstitutional and they don't want an opportunity for anyone to go to court and prove that this is the case.

I've looked into it a bit, and, best I can tell, there are no longer any direct flights between Jamaica and Cuba. The best I could find from Jamaica was a once a week flight that went via the Caymen Islands. Mexico or Canada seem like better ways of getting there.

But if anyone knows more, would love to hear.

Excellent advice Capitol J - we know Americans who have been caught.... it wasn't fun for them afterwards....

    Re: Traveling to Cuba

Going to Varadero late November and we really wanted to extend to two weeks so we could skip over to Negril for the week. There were direct flights but only into Santiago de Cuba and Montego Bay - quite a distance from Varadero - so by the time we looked at the total cost we decided to leave it to one week Cuba (friends special event) - we'll just be patient and wait for our 3 weeks in Feb to Negril.

Very hard to find a direct flight - they want you to go through Panama
Did a lot of research on this when we came back last Feb since we already know we would be going to Cuba in the fall
then found this but only flies into Santiago de Cuba on a direct flight - Thursdays and Sundays -

in the end we decided not to do it - and now that I do further research I see that they have suspended this service

so back to flying through Panama or something similar.
