Wildlife in Negril
April 11th, 2012
When visiting the island of Jamaica, and Negril in particular, "wildlife" is often thought of as the late night live reggae shows and party scene that bring many a visitor to our tropical shores. But the traditional meaning of the word has a foothold as well. Of that wildlife, the beautiful birds found on the island are arguably the most colorful. Including the wide range of migrant species that fly to the island, there are more than 300 bird species that may be seen in Jamaica. Of these 300, more than 125 breed on the island, and 28 species are found nowhere else in the world! Today we are featuring one of the more vibrant birds, the colorful peacock. This picture was taken at the beautiful Rhodes Hall Resort located just north of Negril. You can find out more about Rhodes Hall in our Hotels section. Be sure to check it out!
