It works anywhere that the new LTE cell signal works. The new modems are LTE and replace the old, non-LTE modems. I think we get our cell signal from the same tower, so it should work at your place as well!

Do these modems take a SIM card ?
Yes they do! They come pre-configured with the Digicel settings and LTE network passwords to access the broadband.
Are they actually available at the Digicel store?
Update as of Jan. 2019 they have them in stock in Negril and they work great.
I'm getting 25-30 Mbps download speeds on various test sites.

If your phone is LTE and you have an LTE chip, then the MiFI modem doesn't really offer any advantage.
You can buy the same plans on your phone as the modem...
