2nutz escape to Negril, a few pictures....

Well, we made it. Easy travel day yesterday, not very crowded at immigration. We landed at 2:25 and were checking in at Coco shortly after 4:30. Had a nice visit with WestEndGirl on the ride from the airport. Met Weathermon & MiLady today, apparently we like the same almond tree :)

Yesterday was grocery day, man the stores were busy. Waited in line for a bit, but am now the proud owner of a Jamaican cell, never did find a "Phone to Go", but now I'll probably see them everywhere! Went to Times Square for cash and the ATM was almost empty, should have tried on Boxing Day I guess. Yesterday was the bar crawl, a full bus (seated) with just a few doubled up. Nice size crowd and mostly boardies. Lot's of laughs were had, it was our 4th crawl and I think it was the best one yet.

Oddly enough, I haven't been taking a lot of pictures. Will post some shortly when I find the camera in the dark :)

We had a great group last night!

A bunch of us stopped at Trevor's after for some chicken & more laughs!

I'm heading to the beach today. I'll look for you under the almond tree!

Thanks for posting the pic of Mr. Nutz - that sounds a bit risqué', hee hee. I'm at Charela starting the 29th and now I know who to look for under the almond tree. I will be meeting the "Bus to the Canoe" on NY day with Weathermon and Helen.

Tomorrow at this time I hope to be leaving frigid Chicago behind.
Excited is an understatement. Since I missed 2 Jamaica trips last year because of my fall on the ice, this trip is long overdue.

Headed down early Feb., and definkitely going on yet another pub crawl. Where are those places, especially the 3 after the parrots - did the guy at No Limits get another parrot? Would appreciate knowing the names of the places visited ... they look new to the route and intriguing. are you a photographer by trade by any chance? Great shots and thanks for sharing!

We did Grace's (the JP) house, then Sunset After Dark, The Sky Bar (just opened a few weeks ago, it's just past Swordfish), No Limit, Xtabi and Seastar. After the pic of the parrots (which were at Xtabi by the way) the next 3 were of the view from the Sky Bar, the 2 after that are of the Sky Bar itself.

I'm not a professional photographer by any means, so Thanks!!

If you're going on a crawl in Feb, be sure to bring some toonies just in case you stop at Sunset After Dark. You can "trade" them for a drink, just make sure you speak to Patrick (the owner) 1st, the girl at the bar looked at me as though I had six heads :)

They had the same "special" when I was there in November. Luckily I had a toonie with me. I thought it was the daily special, but maybe it's the special everyday! :) He's got customer service down, works/lives in Edmonton half the year. I heard he has taken over the lease for Wild Parrot...Sunquest. Have you checked it out?

Canadian Two Dollar Coin. It gets its name as a result of the one dollar coin having a Loon on its back and referred to as the Loonie. The toonie just got the name because it was released later to the public.

sammyb - that was the Sky Bar, its just past Swordfish. They opened a few weeks ago.

Went to Sunset After Dark for dinner last night, very disappointing. My food was good, Mr Nutz was disappointed with his. The service was horrible and the staff are ridiculously undertrained. From the moment we tried to order drinks it was a disaster, as a very wise man said, we should have just taken it as a sign and cut our losses. It's a fun place to stop for a drink on a bar crawl, but completely lacks any atmosphere for dinner. Needless to say, we won't be back.

That's too bad, Nutz. Someone dined there & said the brandy snapper was good.

Interesting. I had heard the food at Sunset After Dark was exceptionally good, particularly the hambugers -- noteworthy for Jamaica, where beef generally does not taste as good as it does in USA.

As for the service, the one thing for sure about Negril is you NEVER know what you're gonna get -- the gamut from so friendly and nice you feel like it's a family dinner to service so bad you would bet it's their first day on the job and they do NOT want to be there.

I've had some of the worst restaurant service in Negril that it was literally laughable. But Rob G. tells the best story of all about service at Tamboo a really long time ago -- one of the funniest stories I've ever heard, based on waiting for a pizza.

I on a layover now in Atlanta. I can't WAIT to arrive in Negril. I am counting the seconds!

Had the Gerry G spaghetti last night at sea star ate it all then couldn't stay awake for karaoke don't worry I saved you some the Chef heard u we're arriving today and went to supermarket to stock up

I just got home this morning at 1:30 a.m., so I'm catching up online. It was wonderful meeting both of you on the crawl! I LOVE your picts!! I saw you the day after the crawl, however, you were walking on the beach and I was pretty far out in the water. I didn't want to yell at the top of my lungs, "Hey Nutz!" I might have been carted away. I got home to 30 degrees in my flip flops and shorts last night. Sigh. I'll post some photos in the next few days. Enjoy the rest of your trip and Happy New Year!

Pizza was a lobster pizza from Ciao Jamaica. They do deliver, but the phone # listed on the pizza thread here and their website is wrong. Whoever answered at that # gave me the correct one LOL. Very garlicly, thin crust pizza but we really enjoyed it. Took about an hour to get here....
