Iriesistah hello hoping things are ok you have not come back to your trip report. Sorry but I worry about you and your sons. Looking forward to your happy memories. By the way your dinner sounded good hope it was.
Sorry that i have MIA for a few days.
My friend called and wanted to come for a visit. Her hubby is a pretty successful DJ and is out west on tour, she was stuck home with her 2 kids and needed a diversion for a few days...we were it.
Trip Report...
Months, weeks, days,...years even, have lead up to this day.
Today is the day.
My first ever LADIES trip to Jamaica!!!
I haven't slept well in weeks. Too excited. My mind rushing with thoughts...
I awoke hours before my kids.
Trying to fall back to sleep was a joke...today was the day!!!
When the boys finally woke up, my son Kingston was so upset.
He had a toothache!!!
I spent the morning rushing around trying to find a dentist that could see him today.
Finally found one. We had a 2:00 appointment.
There is no way that I could take both squirmy 3 year old boys to the dentist office so i called the hubby.
He agreed that he could meet me and take my other son, Aslan, while I took Kingy into see the dentist.
Thank God!!!
I arrived at the office 15 min early.
D took Aslan across the street to grab some lunch.
Kingston and i sat for almost 2 hours waiting and watching everyone (except for us) go in and out to see the doctor.
Finally I had enough, Kingston was so antsy at this point, he was done. How can you leave a 3 year old child in the waiting room for close to 2 hours and still expect them to behave well for the doctor??? REALLY???
I complained and was given a half a** answer about how we were an "emergency appt"and the others were scheduled appts so they were taken first.
Long story short...we finally saw the doctor and within 2 min were told that he was fine and it was nothing to worry about.
OK...whatever.
I got the boys home and straightened up the house a bit and then cooked them some dinner.
D arrived home early at about 8pm, I was ready to go!!! Kids fed, dogs fed, cats fed, chickens fed, bags packed...now I was just waiting on J and S to get their a**'s here to pick me up!!!
FINALLY they arrived and I said my sweet goodbyes to my handsome lil guys and we were on our way!!!
It was a 2 1/2 hour ride to the airport hotel, BWI.
As we pulled out of the driveway and down my road I kept my eyes fixed on my home...it got smaller and smaller in the distance.
I worried about the what if's.... What if something happen to me and I didn't make it home. How would my boys be? Would they remember me? Would they know how much I loved them.
What if I didn't make it back...what kind of life would they live without my influence, without my love???
I watched until the lights of my house disappeared into the tree line and I prayed that I would make it back to my sweet boys safely.
I rolled down the window and felt the cool refreshing air of a free world on my face and I took a deep breath to soak it all in.
I was on my way... finally.
Many laughs and a couple of beers later we arrived at our hotel.
Got checked in and set a wake up call for just a few hours away.
Somehow I fell asleep and before i knew it the alarm was going off and it was time to get the show on the road.
Nice start! Glad to see you back
Glad to "see" you back on the board. Off to a great start !
Glad you're back!
Can't wait for the rest of your report!
Glad you are starting your trip report. Can't wait to read it!:)
:)
The alarm pierced the early morning silence and up I sprung with a tummy full of butterflies.
J and S pulled themselves out from their slumber and we began to gather our things and headed down to catch our shuttle to the terminal.
I stepped out from the hotel lobby.
The day was still dark and the air was unusually warm for this time of year.
There was a groovy song on the hotel sound system and i began to do a jig as I headed towards the shuttle.
A couple passing by stopped to watch my antics and chuckled, I said " I can't help but be this happy, I am on my way to JAMAICA!!!"
They smiled and continued on their way.
When we arrived at the check in counter there was no line and we got our bags checked and our boarding passes quickly and without issues.
J had decided that she could not live without her favorite beer, Sierra Nevada, during her vacation so she brought 2 cases and checked them.
It was a costly adventure but I couldn't talk her out of it, she was determined to have what she liked. One of the reasons that I love her so much!!!
We had a couple of hours to kill so J and S decided to hit a restaurant and grab some breakfast and a drink of course.
Whenever I am traveling on a plane I can't eat or drink alcohol before the flight. My nerves are just too bad. So I just had a water.
At one point, when I was walking back from the restroom, it hit me. I felt like a person again.
I was going somewhere for me. I didn't have anyone that I was responsible for except myself for a whole 8 days.
It felt fantastic, I smiled and it felt like my old smile again. I have missed that smile.
I took a breath and it was a deep settling breath, it felt so good.
The time actually passed pretty quick and before we knew it the flight was boarding.
The flight wasn't full so we were told that we could spread out a bit if we liked.
About an hour into the flight J saw the sign for the wi-fi and decided to check it out.
Before I knew it she was on face time talking to a friend via video!!! I couldn't believe that it worked up that high and neither could he. He was laughing and asking to see out the window of the plane. It was really cool!!!
J put on her earphones so she could hear him better. Her voice slowly became louder as she talked to him, not being able to hear her own voice.
Soon she was yelling and everyone was looking at her. I tapped her and told her that she was talking really loud at which point she looked up and saw half of the plane staring at her. We laughed so hard that I almost peed my pants. It was really funny, I guess you had to be there.
The flight went by fairly quickly and we had begun our decent.
