Re: Persuasion or Manipulation skills required!!!
I'm the one that doesn't want to go to Jamaica for every trip and would rather head to new places. Jamaica, and Negril in particular, is just an easy vacation that takes very little planning or thouhgt. I prefer more adventure than what I get at the some place every year.
And Big Shiny n Mango, I'm an old timer that has found other places I like just as well as Negril, such as Sacred Valley, Peru, Galapagos, Costa Rica and parts of Mexico. Some are too expensive to go on a regular schedule and others just as afordable as Jamaica. We have been to the Yucatan at least a half dozen times and continully visit new towns, ruins, cenotes caves and beaches. When I run out of places to see in the Yucatan I'll head somewhere else with rich history.
Many people let sand gravity take over in Negril, I can do that at the Jersey shore.
Regards,
Bob

I love "sand gravity"! Great expression. Thanks. Your trips sound amazing. I'm so busy teaching, studying, working and traveling every weekend. Love the idea there is one place where I give myself permission once a year to be in one place, doing very little. Then again, I usually spend four hours in the water--playing frisbee, wobobo ball, and just laying in the shallows chatting with friends and watching the beach action. Is there an expression for someone who loves the water?
Re: Persuasion or Manipulation skills required!!!
I love to travel - especially to Europe. I also love Negril. The thing is, life has been so stressful these past couple of years that as much as I want to go back to Europe, we don't have the money or time. Going to Negril is our life saver. We try new restaurants each trip, but other than that, we go because we know it. We can relax, enjoy our favorite places, and not have to think about anything. When we travel to Europe, there is no slowing down; I want to see and experience everything I can!
You and your hubby will find a compromise. Sometimes your soul just needs to relax on the beach, other times it craves new places and cities. If you can afford two vacations a year, make one Jamaica and the other somewhere new!
Re: Persuasion or Manipulation skills required!!!
Just use Negril as yearly staple trip then take an ”adventure trip” later in the year. I totally disagree with rjonsun and the Jersey Shore theory. I live about 170 miles from Ocean City MD. For around the same price as staying at a condo in Ocean City I can go to Negril. It’s a 3 hour plane ride to JA vs a 3 hour car ride to OC. In both cases I’m on the beach noon or 1:00. So why not take in the crystal clear blue water of the Caribbean instead of the dirty Atlantic muck. Not to mention being on the Jersey and Maryland shores reminds me of John Candy in Summer Rental.
As far as “sand gravity” I’m on the move 24/7 at home. When I’m on vacation the last thing I want to be thinking of is a schedule or where I’m headed next. The 16th will be my 18th reach to JA and I am still finding new things to do and places to see. I’m pretty sure even Rob can’t say he’s done it all in JA. It’s a big island..
