    Persuasion or Manipulation skills required!!!

    Hi all,
We were last in Negril in December where I became an "honest woman" AKA got my single status ripped from underneath me........oops I meant married! I had a wonderful two weeks there, i have fallen in love with the place. We've only been twice.
Basically, I've travelled a lot, majority of Europe, most of South Africa, Mexico & many islands in the Caribbean, parts of the old South West Africa etc etc. Hubby has been to Greece and Spain, Negril. Basically, hubby is now saying, "I don't want to go back to Jamaica again just yet, I want to try somewhere new!" This isn't the same idea that I have in mind! I want to go back to Negril, ASAP.
I wondered, have any of you fine people been in a similar situation with your better halves? If so, how did you, if you did, manage to persuade them? I am prepared to go to semi extreme lengths to get what I want. However, divorce isn't an option!

    Professional manipulation here is paramount

Hahaha I've so been there before!... Wifey is always saying that...

I recommend first looking for deals to JA then compare your awesome deal to the worst flight/deal you can find for his location. Point out all the money you could be saving... Point out everything horrible that you possibly muster up about their location. (Mexico is too dangerous, the conversion rate in EU is horrible, Costa Rica is too long of a flight, etc.)

I also make empty promises that "sure we'll go there maybe next year"... That might buy you some time. Of course you have to trickle in trips to their wanted destinations, occasionally. But that's later, much later

last technique used... Just pay for everything. It's hard to say no to going to jamrock when it's 100% paid for.

I hope this helps, good luck!

Point out how much you love Jamaica. List what you love about it. The natural beauty, the weather, the foliage, the sand, the water, the sunsets, the food, the clean fresh drinking water, the people, the friendships, the music, the vibes, the experience of arriving stressed out and eventually letting go of northern angsts, wearing scant clothing and shoes, the fruit drinks, the magic of the cliffs, etc. If your guy prefers to skip Jamaica and explore other geographic regions, go with him on these new adventures--tell him you love him and would prefer going to Jamaica with him, but it this is a place that is important to you. Then, schedule your own annual trip to Jamaica, perhaps go with a friend.

Hello SazO! Congrats on the recent nuptials!

I would suggest letting this board do some of your work for you. Let him read all of the posts that express some of your same sentiments. There is certainly no shortage on here.

We love to discuss "other" destinations with fellow travelers every time we reach. I can honestly say that I have never heard any one of them say that they like a different place better than Negril. I love to hear all of the long timers say that they tried this place or that place but every time it always ends up with "but it's just NOT the same as here and that's why we always come back". It's just great advice that we have taken very seriously.

If your husband is like most men there are certain things that you can do that will make him do whatever you want to do Just saying.

Hi Saz- Met you on the pub crawl last year. I am addicted to Negril as well. After 15 years of marriage I have been able to obtain a long enough leash to go either by myself or with my buddy. My wife has different tastes in travel- so she takes trips with her friends and we travel together for family excursions. The trick is building a strong enough and trusting enough relationship that both parties are cool with the arrangement. I'm heading back this December for another solo week of chillin' in Negril.
