Re: What do we think of this...?
Cassidygirl,
EXACTLY!! "Where in Negril is this thing going to dock with all of these people? How often? Kinda ruins the tranquil vibe."
In order to make this "float" they will need to stop at Lucea, Negril, White House and Treasure Beach. Lots of stops and the delay of coordinating people and luggage??? I don't think this is such a good idea. How far from the Airport will the ferry terminal be located? Then when you dock in Negril, you will need to call a taxi to get to your Hotel??? Sounds complicated to me.
Hate to be negative, but.....

Can't wait to see Capt D's comments.
Re: What do we think of this...?
and...
It will be tough to coordinate a schedule with airline flights. I can jump in a taxi and be in Negril in 1 Hour or 1 1/2 hours tops. If I have travel to the Ferry Terminal and then wait for the ferry, travel to Negril with stops in Lucea and maybe one other stop, then wait in Negrl for a taxi to my resort??? Sounds way too complicated.
Re: What do we think of this...?
I'm sticking with my driver. This would be similar to hopping on a bus with loads of other peeps.
Re: What do we think of this...?
The big question---where is the ferry planing on docking in Negril???
Re: What do we think of this...?
seems like it would take longer???? they could dock in green island maybe

I come to Jamaica for the ocean and the water , the water is where I prefer to spend all my time, in it, on it in boats and sleeping with the sound of it. Now with the exception if this took longer to get to these destinations I would do it as a transfer between Negril-Ochi as I have more free time. I love the view from the water.
Re: What do we think of this...?
I would stay my driver for the comfort of not being crammed in with a bunch of other people. Plus, you will have to get transportation to the ferry port from the airport in Mo Bay and then again from the ferry port in Negril depending on where they put it.
Re: What do we think of this...?
The high speed cat ferries certainly do well in the US where they go to islands that are only reachable by air or sea (Fire Island, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Catalina, etc), or represent a significant shortcut over roads by cutting across a sound, bay or great lake.
Not sure they will add much for Jamaica which has pretty good roads (now) between these cities, but I will keep an open mind.
Re: What do we think of this...?
mi for it......though mi see some drawbacks if mi to use dem...cause of time and costs....
okay mi land in Mobay airport......so now I have to get over to the wata terminal......
that is probably the Freeport area where the ships dock........
so how much is dat going to cost for the shuttle or taxi? is dat included in the Ferry ticket?
okay mi over at dat wata terminal.......how often does dis Ferry run? gotta wait long?
okay mi on da Ferry having mi cold Red Stripe Beer(s) after carrying mi bags and chit........
wi got a bunch of drunk travelers.....what's going to happen....man overboard.....lol
wil land somewhere around Negril....now I have to get up to mi place on the Cliffs....
dat cost is a couple bucks......no biggy......throw mi bags in da taxi......
and mi arrive back home.......so how much did that all cost and how long did dat take?
mi would never take dem at night.......no way Jose.......nope......not mi
okay how come this sounds so much like dat flying to Negril thingy......
how many of us fly to Negril these days with dat new super highway(road.....lol) dem built?
versus walking out da lobby with mi bags and jump in mi airport transfer for $30US......
stop for cold Red Stripe Beer(s) and take in a very senic drive.......
and mi arrive at mi place in an hour and a half......for $30US.......so what wrong with this
it's not like taking a mule.....or switching route taxis 6 times.....lol
stop laughing Bnewb......lol

Not for me. I'm reluctant to get on any boat after watching CNN for the last 2 weeks.
