I'm with you Negriljail,
My room does not have a fridge, unless i request one, but I never request one.
I can stay away or not HAVE to rely on the bars with my ice and cooler.
If you venture out like I do, there may not be ice cold beers where you stop.
Even when sitting on the veranda, cooler right there.
I hop in a route mobile with my cooler all the time.
So, it's just a personal thing, to each his own.
My hotel had an ice machine for years, so I got use to filling it up all the time for free.
Buying ice may be the hard part.

we always buy beer on the beach cheap, bring a couple of soft coolers, but we need the cooler for the room for water, o.j and 15 beers on ice, soon come

No problem buying ice .. lots of little stores up and down the strip carry it ..and YES I like my beer ice cold .. its my experience that most places don't keep it cold enough to my likes ... of course no problems with taking it along for a ride or walk ..and I've never had a problem drinking from my cooler at the bars along the way ..as long as I top it up while there ... CHEERS

we do the soft cooler thing, we bring 2, great for day trips, but we are looking to buy and leave with our friend/driver for our next trip, the plastic ones do not leak like the soft coolers, thanx for your input, soon come

We like having ice in our room and go through a bag/2 days. The soft bags barely keep the ice for a day. I found a small thick foam cooler that I loaded with books and packed in my checked rolling duffel.

Although the small collapsable coolers are easy to pack, if they leak, that kinda defeats the purpose....a small styrofoam one sounds like a great idea!
