The wife and I have been coming to Jamaica since 1993. We are bringing the entire family in a couple of weeks to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Only one of our 3 kids have been to Jamaica, but not to Negril. We are so excited to bring our family and show them all the places we have talked about over the years. There will be 10 of us total, but I am only paying the bill for 8 of us. (My sister is coming with a friend and joining us).
When we first started planning this trip a year ago, we told our kids (and their significant others) that we would pay for the resort if they payed for their airfare. Seemed fair to everyone. This past Christmas, instead of gifts, they each received and envelope telling them we had paid for most of their airfare as their Christmas present. They each ended up paying a grand total of about $150. Not bad for a week in Jamaica and including airfare!
We want the vacation to be worry free for our kids so we are also paying their airport transfers and we are treating them to the Pub Crawl. We are hoping this will be a once in a lifetime vacation for all of us! What a great way to celebrate 30 years together than to be in a place that we love surrounded by people we love!
Respect!
Nothing like travelling with the whole family we have been bringing all 4 of our kids since baby,s. Now we are in the transition stage, last year the older two stayed home and are staying home again this year, hope to at some point we all come down together again.
Its great that you paid the resort, transfers and flights, but doesnt going out to restaurants every night, for that many people add up, money wise? Or do you stay at an AI?
We are staying at Grand Pineapple, which is an AI. But we have promised them to at least one trip to Cosmo's and Alfred's.
We are staying at White Sands, not an AI. Our "kids" are all in their 30's - meals and drinks are their responsibility except for a few nights when we take them all out... prolly LTU and Ivan's. Our preference is to "spend it with them", rather than "leave it for them".
"spend it with them", rather than "leave it for them".
That's the perfect way to think of it!
