    Brining the whole family...

We're bringing the whole family with us this reach, including our 20 month grandson! After 3 trips to heaven (Negril), so now it's time to show them the island, the town and the people we have so quickly grown to love.

See on the 6th of April.

Sorry for the spelling error. Just began practising the laid back portion of the warm-up before posting. Hence the spelling error.

    That is awesome!
We were able to bring down some friends and family back in November ....... I think they finally "get" why we keep going back!
    Enjoy!

I always brine the turkey before roasting. I never thought of brining the family. Thanks for the idea! LOL

Brining is only the first step. After they are brined, do you plan to roast them or fry them? I've personally only ever roasted a brined turkey, an entire family might need a different preparation method.

I've thought of doing the same thing. We've been to Negril about 15 times, but never with our kids. Its always been our time to re-connect. But now, our family includes about 11 people, so its a little expensive. Where are you staying? I thought maybe AI would be best with that many people?

We stay at White Sands. It's perfect for us in that they have rooms, suites and apartments. Francis has done a fantastic job of ensuring that we will have what we need for the young lad.

You have to have the correct perspective. Brining an entire family usually means that it's a catered event. Therefore, some will get fried, others roasted and of course there ones to be served tar-tar and for sushi. Because the brining process adds so much salt you will need something to counteract it - we of course recommend a piquant lemon and tequila sauce to deal with that little problem.

Don't be afraid to eat the skin, especially if you are deepfrying. The brining does a good job of adding the flavour and the deepfrying renders any of the fat making for some very tasty bites.

I could go on, but this is a family forum so I shan't.

Brings a whole new meaning to being toasted in Negril doesn't it?

    Re: Brining the whole family...

I brought my family in groups. First my niece and her 2 sons who fell in love with it. Then my son, daughter-in-law and their then 3 year old son. My son had never wanted to come because, as he put it, "That's your thing Mum". On the third day, while floating on the water next to him, he quietly and almost reverently said, "Oh my God! Now I understand". So I'm sure your family will also fall in love with Jamaica and Negril.

I will be there on the 5th of April and am staying at Golden Sunset across the road from Alfred's. Maybe we'll run into each other.

Oh, P.S. my son now has 3 boys and unfortunately neither he nor I can afford to take them - maybe later though.........
