Who is "blocking someone else's blessing"? I expressed that I was disappointed I had never eaten his lobster thermadore, is that not okay? Smh.

Tah no one was addressing you personally, I was replying to the thread as a whole. chill. My point is that many tourist do not want to see change in "their" Negril. They want all of their people in place just for them, BUT sometimes people have to move on, and rather than being upset with Susan, she may have propelled Teddy into the next chapter which will be better for him than working at the Castle. Shake your head all you like, it was not personally directed at you. I probably did not even read your posts in this thread.
Ok I went back and read all of your little posts, and there was really nothing there worth commenting on , so now I KNOW for sure I was not talking to YOU , now shaking my head as to why some of you are so self important. LMAO
I WILL see to it that I do and you too dear one
I have experienced job changes and job location changes that I thought was the veritable end of the world, only to find that God had relocated me to a much better circumstance than ever before. Let's hope that this will ring true for Teddy and Petrona. Sometimes he takes you out of your comfort zone to relocate you in a better place. As for her living arrangements, I have two friends in Negril who live on the property they work at. THEY HATE IT. They said that since guests know where their rooms are, they do not hesitate to knock or call on them any hour of the day or night. One works a night shift and must sleep during the day, but that is when guests are up and about making so much noise it is impossible to sleep. He yearns to be able to afford a place off property. Now Petrona will be able to leave the Castle and go home and have a private life, not always under the watchful eye of guests and having to behave a certain way. After she leaves the cocoon that butterfly might learn to be quite happy with the new arrangements, or at least that is what we should hope for her and Teddy.
Thank you Kevin
I wish Teddy the best and am very glad i had the opportunity, last month, to have my birthday party in the castle yard, by the sea, with Teddy and Petrona and my friends all helping to make it magical.
Let me see if I can copy/paste what I wrote about it:
----------------------
As the afternoon waned we made our way back up to the cliffs to get ready for evening. We talked about going to Just Natural, a restaurant I really enjoy that has moved from the mid-cliff area out to Hylton Avenue in the deep west end. I went by on my scooter to check it out. It's lovely, but the largest table I saw was for 6-8 and even though we have only 6 people talking about coming to dinner, I know from experience that this is likely to change. Also, rain threatened and Just Natural has few covered areas as tables are set out in a garden.
So I remembered that a place I have loved for years and stayed at several times - Blue Cave Castle - now has a restaurant called Teddy's Hideaway. We decide to go. I call ahead and speak with Petrona, the hotel manager. She informs me that only Teddy (the chef) is there, no other staff, but to please come on down for dinner if we are cool with that.
[Blue Cave Castle from the sea]
As it happens we are gathering at Catcha Falling Star for sunset and our group of 6-8 turns into 17...not surprised but definitely pleased...
We get two vans together and head down. As we arrive at Blue Cave I tell Petrona how our group grew (Petrona actually doesn't work at the restaurant but at the hotel, but jumps in to help us right away) and we all assure her we will do everything we can to get us all drinks and dinner, and so it begins. Some of the guys move the very heavy wooden tables and chairs into one huge table by the sea. You can see the area where we sat in the left of this photo, by the sea wall.We moved ALL of their tables to that spot.
[The yard at Blue Cave]
It was dark and Petrona brought out comfy pads for all the chairs and hurricane lamps for the tables and between those and the rope lights on the wall we had a beautiful setting in the yard of a castle by the Caribbean sea looking out towards the beach. If that setting sounds hard to beat, then you are picturing it right.
My friends - who are all just amazing, awesome people - are helping Petrona and Teddy take drink orders, getting menus and bringing out table settings. A few of my friends have brought instruments to dinner - guitars, mandolin, ukelele, and play and sing. I didn't see many guests at Blue Cave, if they were there they were probably out to dinner, but I did see the silhouette of two guests up by the penthouse and tower room, dancing and hanging out listening. I hope they enjoyed our invasion of the castle for the evening!
I didn't bring a camera with me but thank goodness some friends did....

[The awesome Jenn, waiting on us]
One of the friends helping out here is Jenn, who evidently had a latent unfulfilled desire to wait tables because she was AWESOME. I mean, look at her with that tray. She took over orders, helped in the kitchen, and brought all of our food out (with help from good friends Lisa and Genean). (My favorite line of the evening as she brought out our food: "Be careful, the plate is hot....no it's not really, I just always wanted to say that!")

The group walked down into the cave for a bit to check it out. When it's calm you can go down here and swim out from under the yard.
[A very happy birthday girl]
In a week of concerts, weddings, engagements and at least two other birthdays, I wasn't trying to have a "birthday party". This was just a group of friends spending the evening together. But when Teddy found out it was my birthday, Jenn tells me he literally sprinted down to a bakery to get me a cake. And so a toast was made, candles were lit, Happy Birthday was sung, and the night is one I will always remember. HUGE thanks to Teddy and Petrona and everyone for being such awesome hosts!
A final few photos from the night. After 3-4 hours, we headed back up the cliffs to make the night last a bit longer with music and one more dip the pool.
I DO have some of the best friends ever. I love you guys!

(and thank you Lisa, Genean, Jamie, Corinne and Shana for these photos!)
Oh, and here is the menu at Teddy's. Stop by sometime, it's delicious and the folks are super.

I remember Dan Akyroyds debates on SNL with Jane Curtin where he would respond "Jane you ignorant ****". Reminds me of some of these threads.
That's what it's all about ohliz.. Love it.. sounds like a perfect day :)
All the best to Teddy. I'd like to personally say Thank You! to Teddy for the years of service, wonderful meals, but most importantly the camaraderie. Much appreciation & much love~
The World is a Cycle...
Great photos, ohliz! What a great way to celebrate your birthday!
Have stayed at the castle several times and we love Petrona. I'm sure everyone does. We usually see Susan once or twice and we say hello. Don't really speak but that's ok. I think if Petrona was not there we would go somewhere else. Would be good to find out what actually has causes the changes. If I knew Susan better I would call her.
Nice pictures from your birthday party ohliz
Good news:) Teddy has been given a reprieve !! he will be around for a couple more months!! I really hope Everyone at the Castle can work things out.....I love Teddy and Petrona....as well as santa and housekeeping...they all make the it great!!!!!
Ohliz....Loved your story..
Very glad you enjoyed, and really happy that Teddy is staying on for a bit longer!
We stayed at Blue Cave Castle for many years, but have moved on to cheaper digs for longer stays. I've been through some changes at BCC before. Anybody remember Elmer and Bill? Fuzzy? It always seems like Susan is the root of the turn. In this case, she's bull goose loony to drive Teddy and Petrona away. Come to think of it . . . never mind.
Ras, I think many of the BCC faithful have fantasized about buying the place. Problem is, we all seemed to have needed the winning lotto ticket to do so! Much love and respect to Teddy and Petrona --Marblehead
Marblehead: Elmer and Bill did the wedding photoshoot at the castle for our daughters wedding 3 years ago yesterday. Both good guys. And Fuzzy.....well I first met him back in 1973 up in Red Ground with Donald, another longtime Castle employee. He seems to be enjoying retirement.
The tower rooms are still a good price if you dont need a|c, don't mind being a little cramped and are going in off season.
Regards,
Bob
RASTA PASTA is all I have to say~~YUMMY
Seriously? Why?!?!?!
From what I read on the Facebook page lots of drama at BCC. I think the reason I would have returned to BCC was Teddy and how at home he made everyone feel. Hanging with Teddy was one if the highlights of my trip. Plus his cooking was amazing. Sad to say I probably won't be returning anymore.
I don't do much on facebook, so it is no surprise that I can't find their page. Can you provide a link to their Facebook page?
Regards,
Bob
It's on the Blue Cave Castle Facebook group. A post from May 18th "is teddy leaving?" And one if the comments states he is going to work on a cruise ship as a sous chef.
