OH BOY....
Today has started off a little bit bumpy....
We have not had any snow all winter...UNTIL TODAY!!!

On top of the snow issue and more importantly, my son woke up with an abscessed tooth and I spent an hour scrambling to find a dentist that could see him today.
We have an appt at 2:00, thank god.
Lets just hope that it is something simple.
Also hope that this damn snow doesn't get in the way of our travels.
Its ALWAYS something!!!
OMG! It's like your trip last year. I remember how the snow almost made you guys miss your trip! Geez
It sure is ALWAYS something....but just makes the arrival and the great times all that more sweet!
You're in the home stretch.....almost there!
Iriesistah!!! Sorry to hear about all the hurdles you have had the last little while! Jamaica soon come! Then all tension, stress and worries will fade! Enjoy your trip, cannot wait to hear your report!!!
Tomorrow is the big day! Rain, Sleet, or snow you will get here!
=)
Hope the dentist goes well for your son and you :-) also the snow lets up so you can get out of town.
IRIE, I sent you a PM .
I agree with BreanaAshlee - Rain, sleet or snow, You'll make it and you'll be in Negril before you know it!
I hope everything worked out with your son and the dentist.
We have made it to the hotel and our wake up call is in 3 hours!!!
I think that I'm going to try to get some sleep.......
Iriesistah, I am so sorry you had to put down your beloved dog. :( I know how painful that is and it never gets easier no matter how many times you go through it. I also sorry about your hen, that's awful.
Your boys are simply gorgeous! Love their long hair!
I know this trip will be so wonderful and healing for you. Just getting away from all those negative vibes at home (from hubby) will do such wonders in lifting your spirits. I used to be with a very controlling man who eventually made me soooo miserable. I thought I had nothing to complain about because we lived in a beautiful home, and had the best of everything (or so I thought). Some of what you wrote sounds all too familiar and my heart just breaks for you because I remember feeling that way too and it sucked. My ex also convinced me to quit my job and I realized he did that so I would become dependent on him for money and yet another way in which to control me. Thank God I finally had the strength to leave him and I have never looked back. I am now with the most amazing man ever, and I think my past relationship has helped me to appreciate him so much more. I thank God every day for giving me another chance to believe in love. Hang in there. You and your boys certainly deserve much better. Never forget that.
I can't wait to read about your trip! Now, go have some fun!!
Oh, I am so sorry. Take this time to teach the boys the " Circle of life". It is never to early to teach this lesson that we all must bear at some time in our life. Your boye are so cute! Praying you have the vacation you need to heal your heart.
Yippie you are on your way!!~~
One step closer to paradise-Enjoy to the max and safe travels as well :o)
Hello From Negril!!! We made it here yesterday and we hit the ground running...what a day.
I had thought about doing some of my report in real time, however i am really enjoying having no rules and having nothing that I have to do.
So I think that I will actually write the bulk of my report upon my return home but I will maybe do some little updates here and there while here.
Man does it feel so good to be back....

We had a great day yesterday and made it a early night as we were all tired from traveling and our arrival partying.
I did take a swim last night...I couldn't resist the moonlite water....

Ok...I have places to go and people to see....be back soon....
Yay!
But yes....that was my rule, girl! No trip reporting allowed....you must spend ALL of your time having fun!
There is plenty of time when you return to fill us all in! We can be patient (or at least try)
Have a BLAST! Woo Hoo
So happy for you!
Irie...YAY!
I am honestly happier to see you ARRIVE in Jamaica than anyone else I know on the board...you deserve it so much.
Have a blast!
Glad you're there safely, have lots of fun! Love the night shot from the water. Soak it all up and smell the flowers.
Have a fantastic time and don't worry about reporting...just relax and enjoy!
Many blessings to you!
Iriesistah - Bless you. Those aerial shots pull my heart strings. I long to be the one looking out at the view...it will soon come. I look forward to your report (upon your return, of course) and I hope that you find this time away from your oppression a source of strength & renewal. The first time I ever went to Jamaica was after the loss of a relationship I thought I could not be without. The healing touch of the Island was just what I needed and I have been coming back regularly ever since.
I feel for you. I know what it is to have the man in your life be so controlling. Your role as a stay at home mom is of great value. What you do to keep the home and children would take a number of servants to replace - cook, chauffeur, nanny, etc. And nothing can replace you as MOM. Anything that is bad for you is likely to be bad for your children as well. I pray that this time in Negril refreshes you, gives you release and time to renew your spirit. Whatever road you choose - I hope that you will be able to regain your self esteem and independence. It is important not only for you but your sons, who will someday grow up.
Forgive me for being so forward but I want to add my voice to the many others who offer you support and encouragement. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Hope you are having a wonderful time. Enjoy!
OK, after reading this entire post just now for the 1st time, I have so much to say but I will keep it brief.
I totally understand what is like to live w/ a negative person as a spouse, negative actions, negative words, trying to make you fell bad about your choices etc. I lived it for 3 looooooooooong years. It sounds like a short time, but in reality it's a life time when enduring verbal and emotional abuse. I went to Jamaica 2 times in our marriage without him,and it hit me. I am with the wrong man. I realized I can not waste another year of my precious life living this way. The last time I went to JA. I called him when we were waiting on our connecting flight in Charlotte coming home and it was so negative, yelling and screaming in the phone and it AMOST wiped all my irie feelings away. But in a nutshell, my divorce was officially final yesterday 3/7/12!!!!!!!!! The best day ever. FREEEEDOM from meanie, FREEEEDOM from negativity in the house, FREEEEEDOM to enjoy the beauty of life the way I feel it needs to be lived for me and my beautiful son. All I know is life is what you make it. I have a feeling this trip will be a HUGE eye opener for you. I hope you get everything you need out this trip, as a matter of fact I know you will. Jamaica never fails. I am excited about your future. Much love :) By the way, the kids are adorable. Sometime kids can give you all the strength you need, nothing like a mothers love.
Be safe and be well, I have found in my travels that Negril has been a place to "recharge your batteries" to soul search and introspect. Spend time in the hills on the beach in the cliffs and the caves. It is a truly beautiful island with beautiful people, I have always felt renewed when I Leave and yet saddened that I leave to return to the "grind". It is not my place to say anything, but as I have learned thru a recent divorce, love is not control,it is not guilt, marriage is a team, and it is a tremendous amount of work. Your sons will become better people by experiencing the world as travelers and humans. Be a strong mother for your children, enjoy the sand sun and all the island has to offer
The free bird leaps
on the back of the win
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.
But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and is tune is heard
on the distant hillfor the caged bird
sings of freedom
The free bird thinks of another breeze
an the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
Amen sista!!!
Sing on!!!!!!!
Nice Iriesistah! I sent you a PM.
Yes, I am sure you KNOW WHY THE CAGED BIRD SINGS.... but for now you are free.
Allow the setting sun to sear your soul and cauterize your wounds, let the cool evening breeze sweep through your mind and take confusion away, may your heart learn to once again find its own rhythm and your spirit to regain its voice and strength.
What a great mid-trip post! Maybe just about perfect. I love Maya. Spread your wings, Sistah, fly a little :)
My heart fluttered when I read it. Enjoy your time.
Hola Iriesistah,
My daughter used to follow the G-Dead too.
She's your age, which compounds my sadness.
I can not tolerate mindless cruelty.
I just finished your report to date and I've had to wipe away the tears.
Sweet girl, people aren't meant to live like that.
Cruelty must not be tolerated.
Sorry the Dad in me just got a little riled up.
Your photos are beyond stunning.
I can't wait to hear the rest of the report.
I sincerely hope you have a wonderful, cleansing time.
Peace be with you.
Rum
Yes, that poem is very powerful and made my heart sink. In my case - not saying in yours - the best thing I did for my children was to get them away from a stressful tension-filled home life and then things got so much easier for all of us, and then eventually my ex and I were able to become friends again. Believe it or not, he is one of my best friends now, and when we're happy, our kids are happy.
My oh my.This has the making of a movie. Good people, bad people. Beautiful land with friendly locals. Drama, lessons learned through the eye's of innocent children, lots of friends routing for the best. I believe the snow that came as you left was a message... These post's are tough to stop reading.
Seems as though my prayers were answered.Got a phone call from a ex co-worker.Had a extra seat to fill on a plane that happened to be going to ja.How can a person turn down such a generous offer? Just would be disrespectful. Leaving Wed. Anybody want to meet for cocktail or 3?
I hope you are LOVING your trip! Tx for checking in!
(did you get the drink i sent ya??)
:)
Went to Roaring river today and had a great time...Made it back in time to catch the sunset.
I thought that you may like a sneak peek....

Lovely sunset shots. What did you think of Roaring Rivers??? oh yeah one more question, courious choice of poem.
This is prosaic but I have to ask, what kind of camera are you using?
You have an obvious talent that transcends your instrument, but I'm still curious.
If you're getting those results from a point and shoot I'm just going to throw my camera away - there's no hope for me.
I wish you the very best trip, you have it coming.
Amazing pics I.S.!
OMG, I can't stop staring at these photos! They are amazing!
Happy for you...keep singing!
Rum,I have a modern, good point and shoot and hooked into i-photo on my macbook, was able to salvage pictures I thought were worthless.kind of fun too.Couldn't even see this tree when I first got it.Same with the sunset.
Just got back from a nice long walk down the beach.
Gearing up for the big show tonight, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, ect.
BreannaA has extended her stay so she can join us at the show.
I want to thank everyone for your kind words they all mean more to me than you will ever know.
I am glad that you like my photos...I have been taking A LOT of them and will be sure to post some.
The pictures that I have posted were shot with my point and shot, panasonic lumix.
I do have my "good camera with me as well and have been shooting some photos with it but not as much as I hate to lug it out, the point and shoot is just so easy.
Today is one of my Jamaican friends daughters birthday and he brought her up to the hotel for a beach day. She is 3, the same age as my boys and I brought some gifts for her.
Off to play with the kiddies....
